I do a lot of driving. I see a lot of things. The opinion I have formed is that many people just shouldn't be driving at all.

How in the world does this happen on a slow-speed road going in a straight line?

Well, I remember an incident with my buddy and me, where one of us was driving, perhaps after a few beverages, and it felt like the car was tilted. Then we realized that the left tires were up on the center curb and whoever was driving steered to the right. The driver was calm and didn’t flip the car, at least as far as I remember.

Well, there’s a car on the median and one on it’s side with a couple of driveways nearby. Could be one pulled out in front of the other. After watching some of those dashcam videos it seems a lot easier to flip a car than one would expect.

That’s like I see roadside memorials in some crazy places (in town, straight road, 35 MPH speed limit) and wonder “how in the hell did anyone get killed here?”

Narcolepsy kills.

So does stupid. I was mowing this weekend and had a "biker" actually turn around and come scream at me because of my clippings.

Now...if I lived in the middle of turn 4 at Road America, that would be one thing.

I live on an uphill straightaway, 50 yards from a stop sign.

If you can't handle a couple blades of grass when you're slowing for a stop sign - going UP a hill in a straight line? You need a new hobby.

I honk at anyone blowing clippings into the road. But turning around and yelling is a good way to get shot in this crazy day. Just a toot on a straight away. Full on air horn in corners. I would walk around the bike and get a pic of his plate before commencing to get a rope to tie up his goat with.

OK, here's a two-fer.

I'm tooling along, about to rejoin the Interstate after getting some fuel... and I see this guy walking down the shoulder. I look beyond him and this truck has decided to take a shortcut through the mud.

So I'm moving along slowly and look up a bit in order to see the president of Mensa has opted for a similar vacation from the regular lanes of traffic.

Fookin' Gwinnett County.
Where the people are in a hurry to pull in front of you when there's no one behind you only to go slower than the peed limit while talking on the phone.
I've seen them stop in the middle of the rode....for no reason, just stop...

Just last night there were two wrecks on the way home in the rain.

Around here people blatantly cut you off, slow down, then get mad when you pass them moments later. Unbelievable.

I was up in SC this morning and on my way home I saw three solo-spinout-into the guard rail type accidents with emergency crews in attendance at each one.

Good thing they didn't get defunded.

I sure hope it's limited to NC, but the idiots here can't build a road to save their lives.

On (what should be) a flat straight road, you have ponding of water on the road?!?! WTF?!?!

FUMBDUCKS!!!

Yes, it's raining today, and yes, I'm venting. But come the on...

We can send a man to the moon, but can't build a road?

Romans built good roads because they knew they weren't going to the moon.

It seems pretty commonplace these days for the freshly paved road to be as bad or worse than it started.

My car as it is aligned can go through standing water at any speed and stays straight no matter how hydroplaned. I wished it would rotate a little through corners but that little bit of toe-out will cause it to pull to one side if only one side of the car catches water. It makes for an exciting drive

I don't know how the painter's van ended up on it's side, but according to scanner traffic, the vehicle against the center guard rail crashed on it's own - probably when he looked up and saw the vehicle on it's side and swerved?

I wasn't in range long enough to get the full conversation

We just recently had a fatal head-on collision accident on the Southern State Parkway here on Long Island (called one of the deadliest roads in America). It happened at around five o'clock in the morning during the week. The police say they haven't determined how or why the driver got onto the road going the wrong way (I suspect alcohol was involved... our bars close at 4:00 AM). There were numerous fatalities and unfortunately the idiot who caused it all wasn't one of them.

*Correction: The driver who caused the accident did in fact die at the scene. I didn't remember correctly but just reread the article online.*

Anyway, the article mentioned that a motorcyclist "laid his bike down in order to avoid the accident and was taken to the hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries." I HAD to write to the reporter to explain to him that NO ONE intentionally "lays a bike down to avoid an accident." Laying a bike down is INTENTIONALLY having an accident. What more than likely happened is the rider attempted to brake or swerve to avoid the accident and in the process lost control and crashed.

We exchanged several E-Mails about the issue and the online article was changed to read that a motorcyclist attempting to avoid the accident struck some debris and crashed. I thanked the reporter and he wants to keep my name on file for a potential future article.

I've seen TWO wrong-way drivers this month alone. Both times on surface streets (not limited access roadways). WTF is wrong with people???

They're staring at Google Maps instead of the actual road!

More likely, they're staring at f**kin Waze.

That app is the bane of my delivery business. 1 out of 10 calls is a driver - LOST - because Waze told him to go here or there.

Our city Public Works, for whatever reason, are allowed to pave the city streets. They are far from the professionals that do this every day for a living.

I'd like to send most of them to the moon!
