I've been looking around, but can't find a helmet decal I want. I run a Klim helmet that's matte gray with safety-yellow markings and logos (that kinda-green/kinda-yellow neon color). I want to get a die-cut American flag in that color, but can't find anyone who makes them. I can find "lime green", I can find regular "yellow"...but none of that safety yellow-green. The other markings on the helmet are black...but I prefer more visibility than that.

Anyone here do die-cut decals?

Kevin Rogerson (former Buell owner) can do custom decals (and t-shirts, caps, etc.). His outfit is called Yetees Design.

https://yeteesink.wixsite.com/website

I’ve gotten t-shirts, caps, and decals from him for the annual “Buells in the Alps” meet. He does great work, both design and printing, and his prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended.

You're wanting a flag sticker that's High Viz and black? You might try Sticker Mule.com. I've had good dealings with them in the past

I can attest to the quality of Kevin's work.

I can also attest to the quality of Stickermule's work.

With Stickermule, you have to order quantity of at least 10. Kevin might make you a one-off.

Yeah; but if he gets 10, he can sell the extras here on Badweb. I'd buy a couple.

Ordered a "social distancing" tee from Yetees for my brothers birthday.

Thanks Hughlysses.

I will suggest finding a reflective tape in the color you want so high viz both day and night. No cutting but take a look here for 3m reflective tapes http://colebrothers.com/

I want to get a cutter, but no place to put it right now.

Did this get solved?

I've got a vinyl cutter now. Hit me up.

Just did a practice run on white vinyl... this example is 6 inches wide, I'd imagine you want something a bit smaller, so I'll do 4 inch wide next.

The stars are kind of a pain to pull out at this size... it will be harder at 2 inches smaller.

Here's what I got with the first attempt to lay a 4 inch wide by 2.4 inch high flag decal on the back of a helmet...

I don't think I'll ever get anything that size with so many parallel lines to lay flat while retaining their distance from each other.

I'll try making it smaller... these stars are killing my aging optical receptors

OK here's the 3" x 1.8" size... let's see if she lays flat for me

So, you see what happens here... the stripes get closer together towards the end. And I did get one bubble under the third stripe that I couldn't quite fix.

Static electricity is the enemy here. I think if slits were cut in the transfer sheet between the stripes, and you were able to somehow work them one at a time, the result would be better.

I'll try again later for an even smaller size... right now I've got some other stuff I need to get done.

Extra safety in reflectives. I know you can get most of them up to 8 inch wide rolls, some might be up to 12 inch wide rolls.

All my rolls are 12 inches wide by 36 feet. I can cut anything up to 11.5 x 23.5 inch.

Wow dude, don't kill yourself! I'd forgotten about it, very little bike stuff being done these days!

Maybe if you printed it "swollen" at the edges, wider gaps at the ends, so they laid out straight on the round helmet?

I'd love reflective, but high vis would work. Don't burn through a ton of material on it though...

I see it as practice rather than burning through materials.

Funny you should say "don't kill yourself", because I had a little incident with my paper cutter last night, made a nice slice deep into the middle finger on my right hand.

Never let go of the handle on the paper cutter until you return the blade into it's fully closed position. Then immediately apply the safety latch.

Keep saying it, over and over again Matthew... you'll get it.

Let me ask you this:

Where on the helmet is the decal intended for? The curvatures are very different on the sides than the front or rear.

We posted at the exact same minute, so you probably didn't see my question.

Where on the helmet is the flag decal intended for? I feel if you had them on each side, they would lay very nicely along the bottom edge.

Y'know...I have to look at the helmet. I honestly don't remember. All my garage work lately has been my '70 Charger.

I keep a suture kit, a syringe and a little bottle of Novocain in my main toolbox.
Just in case...

I’m glad that the cut was on my left hand.
Was still a challenge to tie the knots with one hand.
Saved myself $1000 by spending $18 on the suture kit from a veterinarian supply store.

Those supply stores around here won't sell stuff like that to regular people, need a prescription or a farm license to buy stuff like this and pain numbing substances. Used to be able to just grab this stuff off the shelves at Tractor Supply.

Amazon has syringes, suture kits, flesh staplers, the works.

I've got all that stuff in my go-bags and field kits

I kept the staple remover they gave me after my graft revision. "You're scheduled to get those staples taken out next week but we're closed for the holiday". Um...OK, give me the pliers and I'll do it myself.

That was FUN! (Of course, it helps that I have zero sensation due to all the trauma...)
