I know many of you never come down Houston way but if anyone wanting to shop for whatever reason, GOE hd and kawasaki dealer closed their doors last weekend. He wasnt a big Buell dealer, altho he even was advertised as a EBR dealer, he never advertised or supported the brand in the community. It's no loss to me as I have not been in his building since 2003. Anyway, this is actually in Angleton, Texas and am sharing as a informational message.

Harley said that 500 dealers were going to close. In the St. Louis area there's 6 dealers. With sales down I don't know how any of them stay in business except through parts and service.

The dealer where I used to work, when I worked there (in the Buell days, I left in '10), had 15 techs in the shop.

Today, they have four.

No idea what's up with Sales, I have no desire to own a Harley so I don't even go in the front of the shop. I still do my own maintenance as well, but the service manager there brings his Jeep to me for service where I work now, and we chat about workload and stuff.

They're hurtin'.

When I lived in Texas City (between Houston and Galveston) I used GOE in Angleton once. They tried to charge me $900 to change the O2 sensor. They didn't know that you could reach the sensor by going from the rear. They insisted the engine had to be pulled. They didn't even fix the problem which was a cracked ECM. I never went back.

Wow. My neighbor took his bike in because his "drive by wire" throttle was acting up. When he picked it up he was told they had to change his throttle cables. He doesn't go there anymore.

I spent the morning with Anthony Lancaster, who owned Riders Hill European Motorsports in Dahlonega,GA.He was an EBR dealer in addition to Moto Guzzi,Aprilia and MV Augusta. They closed at the end of 2015 more due to health issues than anything else.He couldn't find anyone willing to take over the dealership.

Yes, I did. Would I have known you? I often rode my red XB12XT to work.

Similar to Kodac, there will be a chapter about HD in business school some day soon.

Zane, you wouldnt have known me thru your college. I remember you posting of your running issues at the time here on bad web. Also, you lived close to work and you were thinking not enough mileage to get bike hot enough and that might have been part of issues.
I wondered what happened to you as posts kinda slowed and then stopped for a while. That was about time nbots died out and that was the only buell folks in houston area that were active. Since, I've quit trying to get anyone together as I've seen no activity of any kind in this area. Anyhow, good to hear your still active and doing well!

Yes, that was me and I do remember chatting with you a bit. I lived in Texas City until December of 2016 before moving to Springfield Ohio briefly to help my sister with some issues. In February of 2017 I moved back to the Phoenix area. I'd been here once before and jumped at the chance go come back.

I still have my '09 XT and still love it. I know a factory trained tech named Hank at Arrowhead Harley that has a real feel for Buells. Only recent issue I've had with mine is the battery died. I had been using cheapo batteries from O'Reilly's but finally figured out it's cheaper to buy a quality battery and have it last longer.
