So, I'm sick of that damned CHIRP every time Waze recalculates. But, I use it on the way to work for the crowdsourced alerts (police, accident, hazard, etc). I've found online the name of the mp3 file they use for the chirp. How do I find it on my Android, to delete it?

You will need to replace it with something else or you will get errors.

Plug it into your computer and use Windows file explorer to search for the file name

Gotcha, thanks. "Files" on the phone would get me some access to stuff, but not deep enough to find this.

Apparently, according to blogs, there's a "silence.mp3" that can be renamed and used for a replacement.

I just think it's stupid not to have a toggle for that damned noise. I run waze on the way to work, for arrival time and hazard alerts - I don't need the navigation part, I know where I'm going! But lately (especially when its cloudy) it's been losing a lot of location accuracy and "re-routing" because it thinks that, even though I'm on a 4 lane highway going south, that I've somehow put myself on the eastbound road that I just crossed over on a bridge. It does that about twenty times now, on a 33 mile commute. More than a little aggravating.

Download ES File Explorer in the Play Store, it is free. The sound files are located in /data/data/com.waze/waze/sound

Browse to there, from what I see online simply renaming is enough, it won't cause issues if Waze doesn't find the file.

Downloaded it, and it still won't find it. even a search for "waze" brings up nada. When I do any type of file searches, it's like Waze doesn't even exist - there's no folder or anything anywhere.

I guess I'll have to wait till I get home, and dig at it via computer and USB cable.
