Not as bad as losing a friend or relative but a sad one nonetheless. I met Crusty and Froggy here several years ago. All the cool places are going away.

Some photos from that day. If I recall correctly, this was just before Crusty moved to the midwest.

This news saddens me. I only ate there that one time, since it was something like 150 miles from where I was living, but it was a nice place that had a lot of character.

I expect that there will be many more small businesses that will die because of the Wuhan Virus.

Pity.

Having been a "lifer" in the restaurant biz, this whole COVID thing cuts me close to the bone. I'm very grateful to be working in an entirely different field, but the plight of my old crew is always on my mind.

Restaurants have a tough row to hoe, for sure, but musicians and other performing arts folks are about ruined.

Before they close I need to take a ride up there on the K1200LT. I had been mapping out a plausible route to take the Zero but the LT would be more practical for two reasons:

1) It has a centerstand
2) That huge tank makes a reasonable table.

My scooter has a centerstand too, but there's no place to set down a plate.

Fortunately there is some good news out there. A local landmark here got a reprieve:

Weather permitting, my friends and I are planning a last chance ride to Toymaker's this Sunday.

I don't know if anyone else went today. If you did, I'm sorry I missed you. They'll be closed for good after Labor Day (that Monday will be the last day they'll be in business).

One last time

That's a celebration waffle. Hard to celebrate the occasion, but good on ya Jaime, to witness and honor the day.

They were pretty busy. We weren't the only ones who had the same idea today.

There's a rumor the Toymaker's Cafe will be reopening July 10, and will be open on weekends from that date onward...
