I just had to vent as I ended up having to rent a bike this past weekend. The Ulysses has been off the road for over six weeks now, awaiting a fan part from Twin Motorcycles. If I had known it would have taken this long, I would not have ordered from them. They may call the covid card for delays, but I order from the Netherlands often for work and get items the same week from Fedex.

If you're hurting for a part, avoid them unless you can figure out a different shipping method, or are prepared to wait close to 2 months.

In all seriousness, your own comment about Covid-19 should open your eyes to whats really important these days and sorry, but it ain't tiny motorcycle parts.

Get a refund, buy it from somewhere else, ebay, used, whatever, you have options if it's a life or death "fan part"

Twin MC is a company full of true Buell fans and their devotion to the brand a full 10 years after the shut down speaks volumes about where their loyalties lie.

I understand your frustration, but talking smack about them on an enthusiast site won't get you the part any faster, and this isn't facebook.

6 weeks is closer to 1 month. Maybe you should have asked for FedEx shipping. In case you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the guy who roots for personal responsibility. Twin Motorcycles are OK in my book.

First negative thing I’ve heard about them, even after all these years. I hope there’s just a misunderstanding about expectations.

Twin Motorcycles are longtime and well known Buell enthusiasts. I don't like people who run down my friends. Dris Hammadi has been nothing but first class.

During these strange times, a little benefit of doubt is obligatory.

And "a fan part"? Like the entire fan? What exactly was the part? The Buell Fuel Frame bikes all used commercial off the shelf electric fans, and they should be available from other suppliers.

I regularly ship to Europe from NY, and in the past my packages get to the buyers doorstep in a week to 14 days. In the last few months it has been double or even triple that. The virus has killed shipping times, and to top it off things are sitting in customs for weeks on end now too.

I've never heard of people having issues getting anything from Twin, the usual complaint is the cost of shipping, which is to be expected for overseas delivery.

St Paul HD likely also has what you want in stock, I'd buy the fan from there as it will be a much shorter voyage to you.

I’ve had stuff sitting in customs (LAX) for 2 months but the other day I got a large box from Dublin that arrived in 2 days.

It’s a crap shoot .... patience is the word of the day.

I’ve hosted Dris in NYC and have long held a high opinion of him.

I’m a bit surprised you can’t find a fan conus.

I do a little work with USPS and have dealt with their International facilities at times.
US Customs is represented in all of them and determine (sometimes with the help of dogs) random packages to pull out for inspection. And they sit somewhere awaiting Customs sweet time to get to them.
I would expect any shipping company -DHL etc. to be saddled with similar requirements.

I know that there are USPS facilities around the country with a 50% call-out rate right now.
Again, I'd suspect similar numbers for Customs and all shippers. So any package could be sitting somewhere awaiting a once-over.

I understand frustration, and the desire to vent, but always check and place blame where it's deserved. Entirely possible it's TWINS fault, but verify?

Scratching my head here... why would you even order a fan from overseas to begin with?

I ship my products internationally and as of late it's been a nightmare. I've even considered shutting down international shipments. Don't take it so personally.

It took me about three weeks to receive an envelope from Canada and its only about 200 miles away.

I sent a package of Easter candy to Australia on April 6. It made it as far as Chicago and, as far as I can tell, is still sitting there on May 27. Everything is really balled up. I wouldn't attack the dealer; it's just the way everything is, right now.

Our main distributors for firearms and accessories are two to three weeks out. Anything popular is anyone's guess. Just sayin.'

Like others suggested...need anything fast...there are other avenues.

I will say, though...I have ordered auto parts lately and had them next day to a few days later at no additional cost.

I'm pretty sure they start with ceramic, then paint the labels on.

Neat mugs, I LOVE Dublin!

Did they come full of stout?

THAT would be a trick!

I used to be fairly..um...regular at a local pub. Typically helped out when I could, bouncing, taking cover charges, swapping kegs, stuff like that.

Last call, lights up...here's your coffee mug. What? It has a head? Oh...that's just cappuchino froth...

Let's see, I showed my design of a intake flange on here that looked like this:

And then Twin starts selling this:

Then they ordered two of my throttle body shafts for $75.00 a piece and now sell them for 123 euros. The picture on their website is one of the shafts I sold them.

Since I have no patent on these parts I can't say anything. A patent lawyer told me once that patents are for large corporations, not for people. It just rubbed me the wrong way.

The intake flanges look different to me? I like yours better: )

If Twin ordered 2-100 throttle shafts and paid your asking price, wouldn't you be happy? They paid you for your product. What they do with it after is not up to you... EXCEPT if they copy it and sell it as their own. But there isn't nearly enough $$ involved to get a lawyer involved: (

$75+ship+tax+VAT+whatever else they paid doesn't sound like they are making a killing on them. Sounds more like they want a complete catalog so Buell owners who want a super rad throttle shaft, don't have to search forums for the one guy who makes them.

They are sick BTW

EXCEPT if they copy it and sell it as their own.

Which is what they did. I'm not mad about it, just disappointed. Just a matter of principle. It was never about making a profit as I sold them for my cost plus packaging and shipping. It all started with a single BadWebber breaking down on his way to serve our country. It kind of ballooned from there.

They also plagiarized all the copyrighted Buell material.....but, what the hell. Buell is not using it.

If the part lacked proper IP protection it was pretty well tossed into the public domain.

Well; I haven't seen any of Twin's parts, but I have seen what Greg turns out. I'd give his stuff first choice every time.

Besides; I doubt they could fix a dead starter with super glue!

Twin has been great to me. Ordered a boatload of parts, and they’ve been super communicative, parts delivered quickly (after they got them due to their supplier having a shutdown) and are super helpful with my questions. Big fan.
