The taillight lens on my S3T was lost on a ride. I have a feeling I won't be able to find a replacement. Any ideas?

May be more common than you think.

I am hearing that you need a Moto Guzzi Tail light. Longest running tail light in Buell's history.

Keep in mind that the Moto Guzzi lens will need some modification - the same modification done by Buell (and later John Stroschein) - in order to fit on a Buell. All it takes is a band saw (or other saw type of your choice to remove the excess lens.

Here are some BW links (unfortunately none of the links inside to lenses are available any longer):

I am aware of at least one S2 owner (no, not me) that has drilled through the backing plate and uses a longer screw - with nuts on the back of the backing plate - to ensure that his tail light lens stays with his bike.

Well, I was able to request a shipping fee from the seller that Ourdee sent a link to, and have now ordered the complete tail light set shipped from Down Under. Thanks again, Ourdee! Now I can resume my normal 40 mile daily ride without continually scanning the roadside in the hope of spotting the errant lense!

I did the drill-and-bolt method on mine. I'd have to look and see if it survived my wreck, but I know the long/thin screws with nylock nuts held it in place with no worries for about 10k miles before my wreck a couple years ago...

If that information did ever exist in my memory bank, it is no longer in existence.

I remember visiting 1 foundry in Manitowoc, WI - Eck Industries. It was either for the cast tuber swingarm, or the X1 tail section. That was damn near 20 years ago - time flies! Eck's capabilities online look like they could've been capable of doing heads, but I can't say for certain.

To prevent the loss of the tailight lens, I had good success with coating the threads of the screw with non-hardening Yamabond. They would remain easy to remove, but would not back out on their own.

For any bodywork or that type of fasteners, I always use a little nail polish on the threads.
Helps to have had daughters.
