Had a tree attack my house last Sunday. Now I've got maybe a few tons of wood that could be processed for great firewood, a potential income source for me and M.

Ideas?

By the middle of the month the city of Maryville TN will collect this and send it to the landfill. If I can change it up and make a positive out of a negative, let's go. That's a LOT of great wood, it should be used for folk's heat this winter, NOT WASTED.

Advice, my peeps.

Firewood? That'll cause climate change. How dare you?

Log splitter rental at home depot is about $99 per day plus $150 deposit. Around $400 for the whole week.

Still, you're going to need help, some of those logs are huge.

Got a good chuckle there, Sami, thanks!

Matthew, yeah, we've got a few good rental outfits close by- I'm thinking my best bet is to call in someone who regularly does this work. Totally out of my wheelhouse. Many of the chunks are ginormous. Trying to find a solution other than just pure wastage.

If you are feeling generous, put an ad on facebook and craigslist for free wood. That wood stuff is best left to those that do it all the time.

You'd be golden if that were the only tree to have fallen in a hundred mile radius. The old supply and demand rule is in place. So many trees down in the area firewood is of little value.

If you have to pay to have it hauled off turn it in to your insurance company.

Hey Vern! The city came and cleared it all out yesterday, already sowed new grass seed.

A few folks came out and took what they could, but AFAIK the rest went to the landfill. Had I known to tell the tree service to cut it all into serviceable logs for a lumbermill, hey. Didn't make any hay.

Grass will grow.
