Pics are lo res. . . . But, you get the point. Nearly all furniture, with the exception of the Hans Wegner “Peacock” chairs were made by the workers ......including the 7’ table from a tree root. The leftover LVLs were turned to stools ...no nails anywhere.

I have zero talent and love watching them do this stuff in the yard.

The place shown is. . . . . Joe has done houses in NYC, Palm Beach, Nashville and Park City.

The one shown started as “add a screen door to keep the cats in” and ended with every single thing being replaced save the foundation studs walls and exterior studs. All windows and doors were moved or replaced and a guy who made one of the pieces in the living room 36 years ago. Came out of retirement to build all the cabinets.

Think of it as a screen door spun wildly out of control and the damn cats have never left Florida.

I’ll get some good pics of some details when I go back in July . . . You’d get a kick out of some of the details.

Think of it as a screen door replacement that went over budget. Hahaha

Thanks, my friends. I get the "patina" aspect, but just for the health and longevity of the table I feel I really should do some type of refinish. There are lots of different ways to maintain and improve that look and feel... at any rate the current ginormous honeydo list will preclude working on the table.

Jeff. . . . My new hobby is just buzzing about your website. The products are amazing and the photos are out of this world.

Do you have knives on the website? I looked but didn’t see anything. The Colorado pictureS are out of this world.

Thanks so much Court, and I only have one more knife, a real fillet knife made from an old handsaw blade, that I've made so far. Once again, it's been hard to keep up with everything by myself, Julie keeps us afloat with her job at Keystone Resort and therefor has little time to help at all. Projects like the knifes are more so to get it out of my head whether or not I can pull it off, since I'm really striving to make unique furniture that fits the mountain lifestyle and decor.

I am really excited that I'm going to get as much haul rope this summer from Keystone's first chairlift "Argentine", which I'm going to be using in multiple types of furniture.

One piece I made, that I can't find a picture of anywhere, is a clock for Erik that I gave to Kim at one of the Homecomings in East Troy, when Julie and I last talked to you. The face of the clock looked like the image below, but no real pictures anywhere!

What a great idea on the clock. I hadn’t seen that but can tell you that Erik genuinely cherished and enjoyed all the innovative things that people made.

Keep at it and thanks for making this thread special.

Jeff, I saw your work with walnut and since you asked...
Just finished this today for my niece's birthday this weekend.
Intended to be a spice rack. By no means a professional picture and it's just sitting on the dining room table.

Zacks, Nice piece, your niece will love it! I love working with walnut and have a stack of figured/burled piece waiting to be turned into the next piece of eye candy. What did you use for the finish? Are you still in Racine? Wisconsin is my home turf and I grew up in Brookfield.

Thanks!
2 coats of Minwax clear stain to bring up the grain and on this I used 5 coats of Minwax Danish oil hand rubbed.
I like that combo for walnut. For most other pieces I use General Finishes Arm R Seal over the clear stain.
Except when my granddaughter wanted a grey nightstand. Argh. But... grey stain on ash with lacquer over the top.

But I do try other finishes depending on the application.
Like you, I have a little of the pretty stuff squirreled away awaiting inspiration.
To do a little bragging, here's a couple more recent projects. Toybox (soft maple from a tree my aunt had cut down) w/ArmR Seal and hall table in cherry/walnut with lacquer.
