Bad bad wreck for Ryan Newman. Have not heard yet how he is doing, hour later.
He was leading last lap blocking and getting hit from rear. Then he got hit as he was flipping directly in driver roof bar. Then flipped on to driver window and stayed on it sliding at least 1000 feet to catch on fire.
They had to roll the car on to its wheels to cut him out.
Announcers were pretty grim. No report on his condition as they rushed him to the hospital.

Wow- that was a NASTY crack-up! "Walked out"? Great news, even if badly stoved up.
On a different but related note- we watched "Ford vs. Ferrari" last night. Freakin' AWESOME movie, every aspect... screenplay, acting, script pacing, and THE CARS!!! Got a stiffie over way too many gorgeous old classics. Marcia had to tell me to shut up, I was blurting out all their names. Wish they'd added extra footage to go over all those great machines. The racing scenes had audio that made my hair stand up... I was air-shifting and stomping the floor reflexively. Hey Greg- surely you've seen this by now, if not, BUY IT.
On the same level as "World's Fastest Motorcycle", it'll probably go in my collection soon.

Watch the Netflix special Shelby American. More accurate, same great cars, not recreations, and some great interviews of good old Carrol. Much of Ford vs Ferrari was shot on Hutchins Island, just across from Savannah, GA. Saw some car work being shot a few years ago during Beer Fest.
If you want to see some amazing survivable wrecks watch the NHRA Top Fuel and Funny Car races. NHRA racing has upped safety to the point where drivers routinely survive wrecks at over 300 MPH.
