I supply doors, hardware, partitions & washroom accessories to chain restaurants and such.

Usually this time of year its pretty slow.
Not so much this year...

I have several customers adding new stores that haven't built anything for years.

Hope this boom lasts a LOT longer!

Anybody busier than usual?

I see some Jeep upgrades in the future!

Retail apocalypse... I like that.

Since I rarely shop retail, I could honestly care less.

Somehow, developers are building new stores everywhere. Amazing how things just don't last forever, isn't it?

Old things die, new things come to life.

When you only look at one side, it's all you're going to see.

Infrastructure Tax Credit building Strip Malls.-
P.W., How many Business sites(Strip Malls and Office buildings) and also housing sit empty in you area? I know you "could honestly care less" your one of those 'I. D. 10 t' failures. Every one of those Retail Jobs lost radiates out too other retail tax revenue lost, strain on other businesses in revenue loses and employee job security, employee ability to pay housing expenses and more dependence on government social services.

Dunwoody shopping center approved last year gets $2.3M tax
https://www.ajc.com/news/local/dunwoody-shopping-c enter-approved-last-year-gets-tax-break/kIuYcX4yjD c3WunymQL77K/
Developers are set to receive an estimated $2.3 million in tax breaks for building a new shopping center in a Dunwoody business district that is already home to several strip malls and retail options.

With the tax abatement for the $38 million project approved last month by the Dunwoody Development Authority, crews could begin work as soon as next month at the site off Ashford Dunwoody Road, less than a mile north of Perimeter Mall.

Vacant and Abandoned Properties
https://www.huduser.gov/portal/periodicals/em/wint er14/highlight1.html
The absence of universal definitions of vacancy and abandonment complicates efforts to assess the number of vacant and abandoned properties nationally.
Vacant and abandoned properties are linked to increased rates of crime (particularly arson) and declining property values. The maintenance or demolition of vacant properties is a huge expense for many cities.
It is critical to match strategies for combating vacancy to neighborhood market conditions.

Yeah, you filled out our ID10T form a bit early there, patchy.

Dunwoody is where people with lots of money go to shop.

Dunwoody Square, Perimeter Mall, Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza... it's like Rodeo Drive, only without the homeless encampments two blocks off the main drag.

Your 2012 statistics are not really relevant here. In my county we have successfully voted down the public transportation measures that the proglibs wanted to stretch up into our communities in favor of letting people go ahead and drive their own cars. And guess what? As soon as we voted it down the second time, MORE new development!

It seems that people who want their businesses to succeed don't want buses and trains bringing pickpockets and carjackers into the area on subsidized transportation vouchers.

Oh, and FYI, my profits are up - and demand for premium delivery services such as technology deployments and asset recoveries are also up. Way, way up.

Even on our slowest weeks, I am making all my truck payments and covering my own salary for the entire week by 5pm on MONDAY. Since you're a bit slow on the uptake, I'll explain that for you: Tuesday through Sunday are 100% profit.

My 401K is currently returning almost 30%. My mortgage payment costs less than my son's apartment. I make more money now than I ever have, and my cost of living is lower than it has ever been.

No college degree. Ex-convict. Living the dream.

Barry told us not to expect to give our children a better life. Permanent unemployment was the New Normal. No one had a magic wand to fix the economy. We couldn't drill our way out of energy dependency to his sponsors.

My Thrift Savings Plan was stagnant for 7 years despite taking 15% of every dollar I earned. Near zero growth.

3 years later, we've drilled our way to being able to tell Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Iran we don't need their fossil fuels, and we would be happy to sell ours to the Free Britain so Putin & the Mullahs can't blackmail them, either. Under that pressure, Saudi Arabia, has finally started reforms to drag their country into the 17th century. Hey, it's a start. Women can drive. Only 400 years to go. ; )

It turns out that canceling regulations hurting business that nobody voted for helps business. Go figure. Common sense IS a magic wand.

I made a 24% increase in my retirement savings in 2 years.

Income inequality didn't disappear. True. It's never happened in 14 billion years since the Big Bang, or if you prefer, in 6000 years since the first chapters of the Bible were being written and Mammoth was still on the menu. It's never going to happen.

If you want perfect, I heard Need For Speed Most Wanted is being revised with better graphics. & Wonder Woman '80s is coming. Mya and Diana! Close as we can get. ( you might notice, neither is real )

Why in the world would Patches cite some random, eight-year-old stats that he has zero personal involvement with, when there are members here who are posting personal experience. I don't see the point, other than to stir the pot and try and push an obviously false agenda.

Get out in the real world. If you aren't making enough money, there are more jobs than workers right now - find something new, get a different job, and make more money for yourself.

I know.

It requires actual *work*.

Sucks, huh? Welcome to the real world.

I'm hiring class A truck drivers. $20 per hour starting pay, 10 days PTO after the first year. Home every night with few exceptions. Most time we spend on the road is one night. I like my trucks back in the barn daily.

Conservatively that's $52,000 per year with no investment other than having a valid driver's license.

If you work a real week, utilizing all the hours you legally have available to you, that's $72,800 a year.

But there's no opportunity out there, right? Driving a truck is probably beneath the dignity of those who would rather sit on the couch eating the food their girlfriend bought for them with food stamps.

You can't argue economics with someone who has no clue. To think a tax credit is a government give-away of "your tax dollars" is just ignorant of the most basic principles.
Tax credits are used to encourage certain behaviors. I got a tax credit from the feds and a rebate from the utility (two different things - the latter being taxed as income) for installing solar panels. Got another tax credit for leasing an electric car; neither of which I would have done otherwise.
Developers get tax credits (which could be as little as a reduction of permit fees to a deferment of property taxes for a certain amount of time) to build retail space because the local government gets a share of the ensuing sales tax revenues as well as employment for residents who will themselves then pay taxes).
There will always be those who believe that all money belongs to the government and that any disposable income you have is solely due to the state's generosity. AOC comes to mind.

The “short bus” is a keen analogy and .... sometimes I think ..... the source of much angst.

My trips on the “short bus” were in 8th grade .... when I was picked up, carted to a university ..... spent my morning doing a math curriculum from Yale and a physics class. Then, back on the bus, back to school.

The “short bus” population was me and a couple reprobates who had been kicked out of school and 2 pregnant junior high girls.

I got ostracized, for the most past, right along with them. I still recall being teased upon returning to school following lunch each day.

My oldest son, a humanities and English whiz, endured the same thing.

I’ve always harbored a lingering memory of loving the classes and detesting the “short bus”.

a BIG problem that comes with being this busy....

PROBLEMS multiply faster than the Corona virus at a Honk Kong protest rally.

This week its restroom partitions.
I have a job going at John Glenn International Airport that received wrong size pilasters, to many of one size door... not enough of another....
They need replacements ASAP

Texas has lost their minds with new ADA codes that NO ONE can keep up with.
This has been a HUGE thorn in my side.

But the house payment and health insurance keeps me coming back for more!
