Earlier this week a friend of mine on Facebook pointed out a place in New Jersey that sold a FOUR POUND TACO.

Half in jest, I told Froggy we needed to plan a road trip. I guess he couldn't wait because he went there today and ordered (and FINISHED) one of those monsters. Even more, he ordered a second "to go" for dinner!

When I was living in Leominster, MA, Froggy came by so I could mount a couple of tires for him. Of course, Terri and I invited him to dinner. He ate more than Terri and I combined did. We were just glad we fixed enough.

Some day, you have to come down to Suches for Glitch Badness or Buelltoberfest and join us at Jim's Smokin' Que for lunch and watch Froggy attack a rack of ribs.

I had lunch with him at the NYC Dinosaur a few years back. I have a pretty good idea.

At the ADK this year we stopped for lunch at a BBQ place in Lake Placid. The menu had a monster sampler platter on it for two people. Guess what Froggy ordered?

So, as Jaime said, there is a facebook post floating around of a video of this new taco called the Fat Amy from Tito's. This is a 4LB taco that is filled with fried chicken, French fries, cheese, chipotle mayo, buried in lettuce and tomato. The best part is that it is only $12, I'm used to paying out the nose for monstrous meals. Here is the video:

I did some looking online, they have a handful of locations in NJ, one of which is about 40 minutes from where I work so I went over there before my afternoon shift started.

I got there at 11AM, right when they opened. I placed my order, and about 15 minutes later I was served.

This thing is huge. The diameter of the tortilla they use is 12", and it dwarfs my 10" Surface Go tablet.

I started digging in.

It didn't put up much of a fight.

The shell was fantastic too. The deep fried tortilla tasted a lot like the fried noodles from a Chineese restaurant.

Victory.

I was very happy with it. It is not a taco in the traditional sense, there is no ground beef, instead being stuffed with the fries and fried chicken. That said, the portion is plentiful. The chipotle mayo gives a small kick that you will notice, but it is still pretty mild so it isn't something the heat adverse have to worry about.

It was good enough that I decided to get another one to go, I had to resist so hard to not eat it tonight so I'll have it tomorrow.

Really if anything, the taco was too small. I was able to easily pound it down. I mentioned on Facebook they need to make a 8LB version of this Fat Amy, and then call it the Fat Frog. Certainly worth the $12.

The funny thing is, this place is located in Ridgewood NJ, literally just a couple doors down from the Country Pancake House, which I frequent because they have gigantic pancakes that measure about 18" in diameter, they don't even fit on the plate.

My new plan of attack is from now on to get pancakes, fill up on that, and get a Fat Amy to go.

Not only an I on a doctor ordered strict diet, I'm on a drug that modulates my appetite so I get the signal I'm full earlier in the eating process. Chemical portion control. Baal bless modern medicine!

However! That taco looks awesome. And the idea that a taco must have ground meat was shattered years ago when Cali yuppies did fish tacos. ( and not strictly a sex joke )

Compete with a pro? No thanks! I'm handicapped. But I will try that taco if I'm ever near there! Knowing I've had enough never stopped me before.

And I posted the bacon strip pancake on the meme thread, but haven't tried it. If anyone does, let us know, please!

Got a taco place near where I live that has over 60 different varieties of tacos. Fillers include chicken, steak, pork, chorizos, fish or shrimp with different kinds of tortillas, cheeses, and salsas. I'm working my way through their menu.

They made the news a couple of years ago when they discovered they'd been robbed. BUT the funny part of the story was that the manager was only suspicious because of scratch marks he saw on the cash register door. Nothing else seemed out of place. So he watched the security camera footage and was shocked by what he saw.

The perpetrator came in through the back door, jimmied open the register and took some (but not all) of the cash. He then proceeded to prepare himself a meal. From his actions, it appeared the guy was well trained in food handling procedure as he put on the plastic gloves, prepared the ingredients, cooked them up properly, disposed of the gloves like a professional.

Then after he ate, he cleaned up all of the equipment he used and put them back in their proper places. He then used some of the money he stole to leave a tip in the tip jar!!

I spoke to the owner and the guy was eventually caught BUT he doesn't know how often the guy had been there before WITHOUT leaving any kind of physical evidence.

Jaime...

THAT'S pretty awesome. Of course I don't condone theft, but you gotta give props where they're due. I'd LOVE to see that video. Hell, if the perp is properly reformed and recompenses the owner, why not give him a job?!? Mise en place even. Heck, he was even cool enuf to leave a "tip"?? LOL!

See if you can track down the video!

That's actually what the owner had said in the article I read: "If he hadn't robbed us, I would've hired him because he knew his way around the kitchen!"
