Geek Topic Alert!!

Surprised I haven't seen any mention of this new series that just started on HBO. After watching the first episode, I was completely confused. Now after the second episode I've figured out this takes place after the events depicted in the graphic novel, and apparently ignores the events of Snyder's movie adaptation.

That's a shame, because I found Snyder's version of Ozymandius' "Master Plan" a lot more believable than Alan Moore's version in the comics. At least, I THINK the "It's raining squids" sequence in the series is a reference to the ending of the graphic novel.

Anyway, I guess I have to keep watching to see where they're going with this. In either adaptation, we know Rorschach is dead, and Dr. Manhattan has left the building. Can we expect him to return? Probably not, he's made it rather clear he really doesn't give a **** about us any more.

This should be interesting. I'm glad it's on HBO and I don't have to subscribe to yet ANOTHER damned streaming service in order to watch it.

Me too. The screenplay and acting in the first two episodes are very good. On a par, so far, with Jessica Jones. Jeremy Irons as Ozymandius is about perfect.

I watched the first episode of it last night. I too was confused what is going on, I saw the movie many years ago but never read the comics. Guess I need to keep watching to figure things out.

I read the graphic novel while I was staying at the Graybar Hotel in 2007.

I liked it, but I've never picked up another graphic novel - and I'm not a fan of comics.

Holy hell, I just saw the season finale, this is some of the best TV in recent memory, and HBO made up for that dumpster fire that Game of Thrones turned into

It was pretty confusing at first but slowly things all started to fall into place. VERY well done. Even if they don't do a second season, this was very satisfying.

Allright, I guess I'll pick back up watching this, on Frog's recommendation. I was really enjoying it until a certain sex scene. This too shall pass.

It was an anti-gittity for me. YMMV. DILLIGAF. NBD. I just prefer fresh tuna salad over kielbasas.

I've heard that the new Watchmen went full SJW. IS that accurate?

Jaime, in the American Hero Story show within the show, there is a short sex scene involving two guys. It is relevant to the story and how they had to hide who they were. I had to go look it after what squids said as it was that brief and basically a footnote.

As for being SJW, well it has strong racial tensions, police vs civilians, and some other things like that. It is nowhere near being the SJW circlejerk that the last season of Supergirl was, but the show will have you looking at things if history went down differently and we won in Vietnam and if police wore masks to keep their identities a secret.

All superhero movies are lame.

Comics are lame.

Gay sex can stay the hell out of my life and off my screen.

Heyull, Matthew, I'm a lesbian, aren't you? ; )

I grew up reading about every comic I could get my hands on, Heavy Metal magazines too. And don't forget Mad magazine or Cracked, they were awesome. Surprised that you're not a fan of superheroes, what about Star Wars or Star Trek? I once was an avid science fiction reader too, lots of great stuff out there.

Oh well. Different strokes and all that. (pun)

Star Wars yes, Star Trek yes.

Comic books were always meh... The only movie I've like was Deadpool and even that one I can do without.

I don't need sex scenes of any kind in my viewing material. Imply it all you want, but I don't need the full graphic visual to further the story line. It's wasted time, and my clock is ticking.

Mad Magazine was awesome. Cracked was just ok.

Real science fiction and fantasy is what I like. Superhero comics are neither of these things to me.

That's about right, buddy. Cracked wasn't nearly as good as Mad. Gotta love some Heavy Metal though- the graphics, art, and much of the content was killer.
Ranxerox was a fave of mine.
