Finally; a Victory! A little bit of history was made last night at the Sacramento Mile. A Harley-Davidson XG 750, ridden by Dalton Gauthier won the Production Twins Main Event. It was the first time an XG has won in American Flat Track. A second XG, which was ridden by James Raspoli finished fifth after leading the race early on. I consider the Production Twins class to be the modern day equivalent of the old Class C. It would tickle me to see it become the Premier Class, so that privateers might have a chance at winning for a change. I hope the Harleys can do as well at the Springfield Mile on Labor Day weekend. | ||

Oh; the Singles race was a real barn burner with a pack of 8 bikes in contention for the win. NBCSN will be showing it on August 25 at 7:00 PM (ET) If you've never seen a flat track and you've got cable, I recommend you watch it. | ||

 I have been to Laguna Seca since 2006 for MotoGP and later World Superbike, along with stand alone AMA races. Two years ago my local town of Santa Maria Ca. altered their 1/3rd mile dirt track infield section to accommodate the AMA Speedway bikes. It might have been a 1/5th mile track and hosted their finals. I enjoyed the pros, but their was a big difference between the level of the classes running that night. My bucket list since I was a kid seeing On Any Sunday in a theatre was to watch a mile race. This had to be THE BEST NIGHT EVER of watching motorcycle racing for me in person! It was beyond cool! | ||

I liked watching the Sacramento Mile but the San Jose Mile was is a true Legend and was my favorite for many years. Too bad it's gone. G | ||

I just looked at the 10 day forecast for Springfield on Weather Underground and it looks like high temps in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 50s and a very low probability for precipitation. In other words, the weather is supposed to be beautiful! | ||

I-465 Southeast side The section of I-465 on the southeast side that goes east and then north is set to be complete on Monday morning. That's a couple days late because of the rainy weather we've had. You'll get a break before construction on the section heading south and then west begins on Sept. 6. It is slated to be finished Sept. 21. Looks like I-74 coming into Indpls. will have 465 access for the weekend and a few days each way. It should open for the morning commute to work in a few hours. Then the Friday after next will start the new phase on 465 construction. | ||

Ourdee, SportsterPaul and I are going to get a campsite with electric and split the cost. If anyone else wants to join us, we could get two sites side by side. I'm pretty sure we can three tents on one site, but if others want to join us, we'd need to get two sites when we register. Please just let us know if you want in so we'll have enough space for everybody. I'm pretty sure the cost for a site is $25.00/ night which is pretty cost effective; especially when split between a few people. If you need to get in touch with me, my phone # is (nine78) eight seven zero - 5 one six 1. If you get my voice mail, leave your number and I'll call you back. The weather is supposed to be mid 70s during the day and mid 50s at night. Comfortable for spectating and perfect for sleeping. If you've never seen a Mile, you're going to be pleasantly surprised. Just for the record, Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez would have trouble qualifying and making it into the main. If you don't think so, just ask Troy Corser. He tried in 2015. | ||

I should be there, at least for Friday and Saturday, but in a hotel, have yet to make reservations, but it appears their is still plenty of availability. I'd like to stay for Sunday but I work Monday night and with the 500 mile ride back I don't want to chance it. -Mike | ||

I'm looking forward to seeing you again, Mike. I think you're going to enjoy the Mile. I did similar trips when I lived in Massachusetts. Terri, myself and the two girls would jump in the car on Friday afternoon after work/school and go until we got tired, then get a motel room. Sleep for 8 hours, then continue into Springfield. We'd see the races on Saturday evening and the Mile on Sunday, then head out right after the race. We'd put in 2 or 3 hundred miles, then stop for the night. That made the drive home on Monday a lot less stressful and we were all back at work/school on Tuesday in good shape. We'll see you there! | ||

Just came back from a great weekend in Wampum, PA. Got to hang a bit with Smoke and Steeleagle during the Pittsburgh round of MotoAmerica. Great fun, but I didn't get a photo with the two of them. Steeleagle won't be in NJMP in two weeks, but I know Smoke will be there. Anyone else coming down? | ||

For those of you who can't make it; you can watch the races live on www.fanschoice.tv It's nowhere near as good as being there, but you can see the races. I have said it many times; if I could only see one race for the rest of my life, I would choose the Springfield Mile. | ||
