I've got a best friend who's part of our Buell cult. I've asked him to allow me first dibs on his 2010 cherry bomb XBSS.
He was almost killed by a teenage distracted girl... doesn't ride much now. I sold him his 2004 XB12S. He wants to build the damaged/totaled bike into what the factory was envisioning the Buell turbobike to be. Variable vane turbo and all.
Brad - VGT turbos are fairly common now, you can find them by the handful on eBay from the VW applications. They're sized for a 1.7L engine so should be able to spool up pretty nicely on what is effectively a 1.2L V-twin. There are also a lot from Powerstroke diesel applications but they're HUGE - too large to be useful on anything under 5 liters.
If he comes across any Garrett VNT25 units at a decent price, let me know. I need one for my Shelby. I'm about to put my last spare on it now, to get it running again...given the rarity, I like having at least one on the shelf (since I have a heavy right foot).
There was one bike with traction loss attributed to an off camber turn with a high crown in the road, with damage. Bike following also left pavement, no damage.
Joe- since that incident, sadly, my buddy rarely rides anymore. He stays busy like you, playing bass and working as a sound tech. I'd love to have him ride with me down to Suches someday, but that seems unlikely to happen.
I just want to thank everyone that made the trip to WV. I had a great weekend and I hope everyone else did too. I didn't take many pictures this year. I knew Mike and Gary had that covered. If I keep the hack, we might have to pull the 4 bolts that hold it on so I can enjoy the turns a little. That rig is workout to ride to say the least.
I love you dumb asses and look forward to seeing you next year
I've always wanted a Ural rig. Someone in DT Knoxvegas had one, replete in all the Soviet livery. Kinda like when I had a 1970 VW Transporter, not going anywhere fast, not safe, but dang cool. We got one in on trade at SMHD, I rode it backwards all around the site.
BIG bonus- your dawgie will love it, chicks will love your dawgie and you, by proxy, maybe.
Mark got his first ride in a side hack. I got to drive one for the first time. It is a work out. I couldn't believe Mark wasn't tired after lugging my hiney to the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum (AKA the Weston State Hospital) located in Historic Weston, West Virginia and back. I had a great time pretending to be a monkey.
RD, that is one of the best pictures I've seen in a long time. Mike put his tag line on it. I would like to know what he did when processing it. It really pops while keeping the course edge.
Brad, Vern may not have had enough dynamic weight transfer going on for his front end hoist. I was 4 pounds low front and rear. At 71 degrees they had 32/30. I think that was early morning. I changed the pressure to 36/34@82F and dialed back my preload tonight after removing the luggage.
Coarse? Coarse? My use of nomenclature could be in error. My connotations often disagree with Mr. Webster's definitions. I recognize more of my ignorance the older I get. I do apologize for not knowing how to explain my feelings about what appears to me to be an artistic push or heightening of the patina. The pic feels edgy, raw, and full of life traveled, lived, and in motion. Looks like adventure, with the now going deep. Not just temporal in architecture but approaching spiritual.
