One pundit says it was a pro Biden ploy. Another interpretation is that Gabbard is so far behind she needs a boost to stay in at all. The DNC has a cutoff line to attend the next debate. If she can't get the poll numbers and/or donations, she won't be allowed to speak. Nevermind that the loaded label is itself a false one. The character in the book wasn't what the label popularly is meant to mean. What's important is not only was she an authority figure that earned a bad reputation in a racially challenged Justice system for "insensitivity to her kind" ( if she'd been in the Other Party, there'd be no end of open hate for her ) But by any standard of Justice, was dirty and crooked. There are many ways for Law Enforcement executives to be crooked. In England, there are multiple reports that to lower crime statistics, police were ordered not to even file that crimes were committed, and never investigated, even violent assaults and armed robbery. There's also an insane racist aspect to that, but it's enough that to make sponsoring politicians look good they are willing to force police to not allow crimes to even be reported, to see the System has lost credibility and moral authority. The willingness to send people to prison, to destroy their lives, when you know they are innocent, for political gain, is a crime that destroys faith in the system and is abuse of power that should never be tolerated. You may disagree with the "liberal" notion that it is better to let a criminal go than to convict the innocent. I had a friend in the medical field. He wanted to start a new government program that would pay women to have abortions. Kind of like food stamps mixed with blood drives plus Planned Parenthood. Then all the low-life, trashy women who depend upon society would have a new form of income. He claimed that after a woman aborted 8 or 9 babies or so, their bodies are just trashed and unable to handle the hormonal stress, and they'd no longer be able to conceive. Thus reducing the low-class trashy dependent gene pool. Two birds one stone. New income, and cleaner gene pool. Totally immoral and maybe implausible. But Margaret Sanger would be proud. |
