Tom, thanks for posting that! Very cool, looks about the length of my shortboard. Still got it- my mom took me to the sports shop at the mall when I was 11. Had it built with all the best stuff from back then. Still ride it sometimes, and I can't ride anything else. I'd go owie quick on a longboard.
Coolest was the offroading, but those trails were smooth and dry. Wonder about its crappy weather capabilities!
The tire profile is curious too. Wonder if the flatness of it adds stability?
The big money version does almost 20MPH, and has a 12-18 mile range. Pretty impressive for the gadget.
I've seen folks riding those other monowheel thingies, looks freaky and cool at the same time. I'd do better on the Onewheel thingy, but not for that money. That'd be a down payment on a new Zero.
Ummm, perhaps you would feel better about breaking your neck for $1,800 on the XR model. No doubt, the price alone makes them not for everyone. The Pint has a smaller wheel with a rounder profile. It's supposed to be more responsive in carving turns. These are pretty much the Tesla of electric "skate boards", high tech and lots of features. Of course they can travel terrain that will stop skate boards in their tracks. That's part of the appeal to me. It is funny that they offer financing for a skate board!
But, I would like to try and ride one... maybe some place rents them... Could put an ad on facebook marketplace looking for a 1/2 hour lesson for $20 or $30.
I keep thinking about that statement. It's probably one of the cheapest neck breakers I've ever owned!
I was hoping to get some real world feed back on the potential for running a dog on trails with it. Started training her to run with my mountain bike. That's working well, but your hands are tied up with the handle bars, and she's connected to the seat post, so there's no quick transition to a normal leash situation if I come across a situation where I need more control of her. This looks like you could, with practice, hit the hooks and jump off very quickly. Your hands are already free to be dealing with the leash.
Knowing what I now know about one wheel technology, that RYNO thing just has "face plant" written all over it. There's a point where you are just going too fast to have the power to get the wheel back under you. That thing is going to do some real damage to you when that happens!
Looks unlikely that I'm going to get the info I seek around here, so onward with full throttle thread derailment!
We've got a great greenway system here, plus Knoxvegas is getting known for its urban wilderness. I'd love to try one of those out in South Knoxville, Ijams Nature Center, etc.
Used to hit the greenway with my dog regularly- he'd run while I scooted on my skateboard. Got my yard fenced in, now I'm lazy.
Looks like I'll be getting knee surgery before a Onewheel. I still think I will take the plunge in the spring though. Unless I find a good used one from the usual suspects.
