Yes, this is something that will not interest most, but I wanted to write about it as I hope some folks will appreciate it. Im feeling a bit sick today and staying in, decided to pop onto Amazon Prime and found, somehow, this 'documentary' called Blood Sweat and Gears by Billy Lane. it's from 2005 and it follows a tour he put together, going to five bike rallies and doing bike modifications live in front of th e crowd. Again, what he's doing wont interest many/most on here...myself included, it's just not my style of bike. But what DID interest me was the motivation behind it, at least partially. Lane built bikes on this tour to give to soldiers. Give. He didnt give one away at every stop, but four were given away to active duty, retired, and, unfortunately, to the family of a soldier who was KIA. That's why Im posting this. Im posting this because I remember him being a big name in bikes in the early 2000s when discovery had a billion biker shows and it was a hot thing. I remember seeing him at rallies, seeing his bikes...I wasnt a fan. I didnt know him, I didnt CARE to know him. But this showed me what he felt. He loved America and understood what was important about this nation - our brave men and women who make sacrifices to keep us free and free from fear. It was an emotional watch, I wont lie, it was touching. I googled him afterwards (just before this) and see that he's done some terrible things, including driving drunk (multiple times) and killing a motorcyclist while doing so. Shame. But I will still feel some respect for the guy who spent his time doing what he felt was right - giving away bikes that he'd modified to our brave men and women.
