I did an oil change on a Triumph Sprint after work and took it out for a spin to get the oil hot and then check the level.

As I was bombing around I saw a guy on a Harley and whatever he did to that bike it looked just perfect.
It was some sort of Dyna that he'd stripped the junk off of and if ever there was a motorcycle that said "Summertime", it was that particular bike.
Same thing with a Triumph Bonneville or a Buell S1, you see the silhouette and it just says that riding season is here.

Then as I was filling up at a gas station I saw another guy ride by on his Harley and he couldn't have been more pleased to be out and about on it. That grin looked about ready to split his face.

That made me think about how much I enjoy motorcycles.
If it has two wheels and a motor it HAS to be fun.
It's easy to get hung up on a certain brand or riding style or sound or whatever but I'd just as soon not.
ALL of them beat pedaling up steep hills!

I need to get my KLR out of the back of the garage and get it running so I can sell the Z1000.

It's time to pass that bike on to a younger man who can handle the riding position as I no longer seem to enjoy it much, if at all.

I'm with ya, Matthew. I decided to part with my beloved CityX after I rode it to Suches and my knees felt like they had butter knives shoved under my kneecaps.

Get that KLR running, man! I'd love a Suzook or Yammie D/S around here. Get a second set of street wheels to motard it out. Living here in southern Appalachia, it's truly God's country... roads AND trails all over.

Steve, I'm with ya 1000%. Allow me a re-post here, totally apropos... Kevin Abernathy's "Moto Kids". GREAT song. Just re-watched it, heck, he even looks like he's got helmet head.

Now, RD, haven't you fabricated some highway pegs or something already? I remember seeing some really cool highway pegs fabbed for an Uly at HC 2010...
if anyone could do it, it'd be you. ; )

Oh, and IIRC, aren't you trailering down?

I am not trailering down. I did not enjoy that. I did copy a person on another forums highway peg design that bolts onto the 08-up 1203 Thunderstorm engine. I wind up burning pants legs on the headers on long trips. Those peg ergonomics
are so tight on long trips I was tempted to wear roller-skates.

You can do better than that. Those pegs are too close and too small. You'd need header tape on the right.

This whole problem speaks to an idea in my mind.... remind me to tell you later.

If I wanted some big ugly pegs hanging off the sides of my bike, I'd ride a Beemer or a Sportster.

Those big, ugly pegs don't look so big or ugly after a 600 mile day...
