As the late Ross Perot would say, "Giant Sucking Sound". Add the cost of throwing Buell in the dumpster, plus the R&D to develop an Indian/Indonesian made VR knockoff motor, and the cost of styling this bike.
Morons...
I've come to understand that most upper level corporate folks are idiots. Not all, but the percentage is too high.
Once that thing shows up at the dealerships, it'd be most amusing to bring out all our "vintage" bikes.
The morons and assholios took their golden parachutes and bailed. Not all of them, but the biggest buttmunch, Jackass Wandell is gone. I hope there's a special place in hell for him.
I rode a Scout when they first came out. No, thanks. And I love how the magazines are praising Indian's FTR 1200 as an American Sport bike. It makes about 2/3 the horsepower of an 1190 SX and I truly doubt it will handle even remotely as good. Plus it radiates huge amounts of heat.
My Roadster is slower than that FTR, but I wouldn't trade it for one unless they threw in a new Roadster to sweeten the deal. Then, I'd sell the Indian.
Dayumm straight you would, Mr. Hare. I remember chasing you and the group above Little Switzerland... on the way back down I boiled the rear brakes on my Triumph.
John, my neighbor has a Scout. He's scared of it. I'm not. I'm angling to see if he'll let me borrow it for a few minutes. Looks nice, sounds nice, that's all I know. Won't beat my Beemer.
Let's not say such things. Nothing that Keith Wandell did would warrant that. I'm still aggravated that he did what he did, but apparently he was just a f&cktard Pus$$y hired in to run the entire corporation of Harley-Davidson (nee Buell) from Maytag or sumthin. Never ridden a motorcycle??????????????????????????????????
Pardon my French. I'll head over to my old fandamily and see what's the F up. As little as I make now, I wonder at the folks who've "succeeded" at marketing. Apparently no soul or conscience is required.
Boy, summa you guys sound like folks on the Victory forums, still castigating Wine and Menotta at Polaris for dumping Victory completely in favor of Indian..
I don't think any bike will ever give me the thrill ride like the Uly did... but I will keep looking
That HD looks like a Indian and Ducati Diavel had a roll in the hay to me. BUT! I would like to take it for a test ride.
I think after the WV Buell Rally the Wing and sidecar rig are going to get turned into some type of Motard. DRZ400SM is on the short list.. but I'm sure it wont wheelie like the Uly
Wheelies on the DRZ 400 will require more technique than just twisting the throttle.
I have no technique in this regard. If it won't do a throttle only wheelie then I can't wheelie it. I've had two DRZ 400's. Never had to worry about them flipping over backward on myself. Also didn't have to worry about cornering clearance. Man would they get in deep.
I had the S model, not the S/M but they were still incredibly nimble and sure footed in the corners. Much quicker turning in than say a DR 650. Had one of those also.
Back on topic. I really like that Harley Street Fighter. I vote with Crusty on Wandell. I hope this new Harley competes with the FTR 1200, at least on paper. But, it will almost certainly be too expensive when compared to European or Japanese machines.
