The sad part is the split in the rep votes on this budget bill. Dems are rock-solid, all together, on their side of things (90% or so). GOP votes are literally half and half - some true GOP reps, but way too many RINOs.

Voters, take notice, What did YOUR rep do??

Time for a purge...

Right there with ya...doesn't mean I don't try and do my part by voting GOP.

Hopefully the left's recent excursion into the FAR-left world will wake up enough of their constituency, and people will come to the rational side in '20...

I almost HOPE they nominate Comrade Sanders...what a gift THAT would be to the GOP!

I was thinking Miss Cortez running on the Dem ticket would really motivate Republican voters to get out and vote.

That is a good point.

And I suppose it's too much to hope for, that the GOP will unite and actually get their message out there like the Dems are doing (truth or lie, they're definitely trumpeting their platform from every hilltop!).

My thought was that if the Dems ran somebody "non-polarizing" it would be a clean sweep. ...and that AOC is at least polarizing.

I could be wrong, it happens all the time. Just ask my wife.

It would be nice if enough no-signers kept the bill from passing in the first place, so it didn't fall on the President's shoulders...that way he doesn't have to concede the stranglehold on ICE/BPS or any of the other poison pills they put in the wording...

No mention of Trump signing this border bill, declaring a National Emergency, then saying that he really didn't need to declare a National Emergency but wanted to get it done faster to satisfy his base and then he goes off to play golf?
Spicer was right, you can't make this stuff up. EVER in our history.

As far as I know "Comrade" Bernie Sanders wasn't scheming to give Putin a penthouse while he was campaigning for President.
Nor was anybody else.

While I don't expect acknowledgement of this from Steveford, much less any rational discussion, I'll address this for those wishing to be informed. Lou Dobbs got into this tonight. Other Presidents have in fact declared national emergencies to do things with executive orders in the past. Fact is, it's been done over 50 times in the past. Fact is, BO himself did it 12 times. It seems that Trump is lagging way behind his predecessor on this metric. Facts should matter, but not to leftists.

Statement by the President
Re: Immigration
Date: Feb 15, 2019

Today, I have signed into law H.J. Res. 31, the “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2019” (the “Act”), which authorizes appropriations to fund the operation of a number of agencies in the Federal Government through September 30, 2019.

[snip]

Numerous provisions purport, in certain circumstances, to condition the authority of officers to spend or reallocate funds on the approval of congressional committees (Division B, sections 702, 706, and 716(a), (b); Division E, sections 403 and 409; Division G, sections 188, 405, and 406). These are impermissible forms of congressional aggrandizement in the execution of the laws other than by the enactment of statutes. My Administration will make appropriate efforts to notify the relevant committees before taking the specified actions and will accord the recommendations of such committees all appropriate and serious consideration, but it will not treat spending decisions as dependent on the approval of congressional committees.

I'm lukewarm about all the politicians . . . but more concerned about the bullshit claims by many who seem to have failed memories of all the really dicey stuff we've been through such as fast and furious, Lois Lerner and the healthcare bill that was passed with Republicans locked out of meetings.

I want to see justice for what happened to our men in Benghazi (and the subsequent lies and cover up).

Public hangings or firing squads, either works fine for me.

It was reported that this was part of the discussion of Trump building a high rise in Russia. While I think there was overlap with his campaign, this negotiation was started before the campaign, and no laws are alleged to have been broken. In the end negotiations for the tower failed, and none of it had to do with his run for President.

The funny thing about all of this is that if you want to examine the "corruption" in this deal, it's the corruption that comes from a socialist government where the government heavily controls any project such as this. If the supreme leader wants a penthouse suite in a tower being built, the supreme leader gets a penthouse suite in a tower being built. This is exactly the kind of government that the leftists in our country are making a big push for. If they are successful, any business deals will be subject to this same sort of corruption. Be clear though, the corruption is not on the end of the developer. The corruption is on the end of the socialist politicians. It's the reason socialism/communism always has, and always will fail and lead to misery of it's subjects.

It's telling that a business man, who is clearly familiar with the failings and corruption of the socialist system is fighting so hard against it in his own country. It seems like we have gotten the right man for the job at the right time. It's almost like you can sense a greater power at work.

Interesting opinion piece in the paper that want to decide what news you need to hear. The Democrats’ Latest Political Misstep on Immigration I do agree with the assertion that what the Dems are doing won't help the suffering of the people. This obviously left leaning piece makes an interesting admission though...

quote:

About 58 percent of detainees have no criminal record, and only 20 percent have been convicted of serious felonies (including selling marijuana).

So we are being told that 42% have criminal records and 20% are felons, including drug dealers. Keep in mind, these numbers don't address the numbers who have managed to evade justice, possibly by fleeing their country of origin. So we are supposed to just blindly welcome people, by the hundreds of thousands, where 1 in 5 are felons? I think we can afford to be slightly more selective than that.

BTW, for Steveford, or folks that want to know what's really going on... I had Lou Dobbs on in the background during his rerun later last night. I paid attention to the bit about Presidents declaring national emergencies to do things through executive orders. The exact numbers were it's been done 58 times, 12 times by BO. I'm pretty sure the nation will survive if Trump uses this lawful tool.

DAMN! Here's CNN (I clicked so you don't have to), pointing out that we have 28 CURRENT declared national emergencies, and are actually complaining that Trump isn't declaring another one for the opioid crisis.

Spicer was right, you can't make this stuff up. EVER in our history.

Seems your sources do make this stuff up.

Here are the 28 active national emergencies. Trump won't be adding the opioid crisis to the list

I just read an article entitled “ICE in the Hudson Valley”. I am often in the area and it’s qyite liberal. The article essentially described ICE as Gestapo agents.

My question .... “how many of the folks they have deatained entered my country legally, followed and are following our laws and are truly part of the wonderful fabric of immigrants who’ve made the USA great?”

If they’ve detained those folks .... they’d invoke my ire.

But .... if those immigrants they detaine entered illegally and are, by mere definition, criminals.... they have my full support.

Legal immigrants are one of the amazing things that have created an amazing country.

ILLEGAL immigrants are criminals who undermine it.

Any flaws inthat logic?

I know there are some sad stories ..... tales of folks who swan the Rio Grande at midnight years ago..... of folks who’ve built wonderful lives, families and made tons of contributions to our country. We need to figure that out as to how it will be handled.

But the first cull is into TWO simple groups legal and illegal.

Am I missing something?

Voter fraud by using illegal aliens to pump up your numbers.

There is, as of today, no proof, that Hillary's "majority" in the last election isn't entirely from fraud in California. There are many more illegal there this year, and will be more next, that are illegally registered. ( if they admit to hundreds of thousands, it's really millions ) Ditto, New York, although Cuomo minions haven't admitted anything, so far.
