The droopy pants fashion seems like something that an evil, racist dictator would force on minority youths to degrade them or to slow them down when they are running from the cops. Those high heel shoes for men in the '70's were popular with cops for that reason.
I live in Northern California at about 500', 15 miles from the beach. Once every couple of years, it snows on the higher elevations of HWY 9. Several years ago when it snowed, I jumped in the FJ40 and headed to work. I was enjoying the white stuff on the side of the road and got a good laugh from all of the cars that slid into the ditch (no one got hurt). I get to the top of the hill to see that the road was closed. I got out of my car to talk with the CHP officer to find out why. HE looked at me oddly and says: "well there's about an inch of snow and the road is slippery". I could not contain the laughter at the idea of closing a road for one inch of snow (grew up in Colorado and took my driving test in a snow storm. In a 1973 hot rod vega). I explained my outburst and asked if I could drive through. He checked out the truck (almost brand new tires) and said I could pass through, but was on my own if something happened. I smiled and thanked him and went on my way. I must have passed 2 dozen cars in the ditch and everyone was waving me down to stop because it was "dangerous". The most dangerous part of that drive were the imbeciles out of their cars, playing in the middle of the road.
