But I have to be able to drive from C-Bus to the Hocking Hills of Ohio to get my trail fix....

The plan for this LONG weekend...

New top goes on.
Windshield gets a couple of new braces that I didn't include when I had my brother in law make it.
New Steering box skid plate
New sway bar arms for my Anti-Rock. (Replacing the steel with Aluminum)

I have swapped out a bunch of steel stuff for aluminum and removed stuff that just didn't need to be....

So far the Jeep has lost over 150 lbs of weight.
Most of it sprung weight. The new wheels ended up being 7.5 lbs less than the steel wheels they replaced.
5 x 7.5 = 37.5 lbs for the wheels alone.... and they are SWEET!!

You're gonna need a taller garage door soon.

or...is that a conscious "must stop HERE" limit for the mods? ; )

You may want to trailer it when the tube frame happens.

It wont get any more lift and the only way it will get bigger tires is if Jeep Jamboree starts to allow tires larger than 37"

37"s are big. Largest I ran was 35". I did have tire envy though when a friend showed up at work with 37s. I didn't realize you were running under the JJ sanctions. Carry on.

Why not go with SSR's? I ran 37" SSR's on my '01 Ram and was very pleased with them. From what I understand they're basically a TSL with a slightly tighter lug pattern so they're more pavement friendly (less noise, vibration, better wear life) and yet give up no measurable amount of off road performance what so ever.

The Bias Ply is better for wheeling and thats about all I do with my jeep... other than work on it in the garage.

The Bias ply is also a little taller and the tread depth is about 5/8 deeper.
Plus they wear out faster so I can try something different sooner...

Pretty sure the BFG AT T/As under my 98 Dakota Sport are 31s.
I get a kick out of driving around people snowbound in the middle of the road.

It's almost as good as my old CJ5 in deep snow.

Wish we'd get a blizzard, winter is boring this year.

BFG ATs are the best snow tires that I know of. My CJ7 on 35" BFG ATs could run 18" snow in 2WD.

I'm going to wear out 4 of the 5 Creepy Crawlers.
When the time comes, I will buy 3 more and rotate the new/old stock spare into service.
I will save best tire out of the rest for the spare.
Once I toast them... Super Swampers it is.

So far today I have re-connected the roll cage to the frame.
Mounted a steering box skid and installed aluminum sway bar arms on my Anti Rock
So far I have removed 174.5 lbs from the Jeep.
I could save another 50 lbs if I changed the skid plate out from 3/16 steel to 1/4 aluminum... but the wallet it running on fumes!

Good to hear you got the DW fixed Wolf.

I initially decided to not do sway bar disconnects when I did my lift. I wasn't sure if it was good bang for the buck or not, and I already spent a bit more than I planned on the lift. Doing just a little bit of wheeling, it seemed like it really wasn't making use of the travel like it should, so I snuck a disco kit into the Christmas spending. I put it on this morning, and was quite surprised that it released about 6.5 inched of downward travel. Here's before and after picks with the left front spring out so I can stuff the left wheel.

I guess the discos are worth doing!

I was also checking tire clearance with the wheel stuffed. 35s should be no problem other than they may rub on the sway bar links in the disconnected position when it's fully stuffed and turned. I'm still thinking a 34 inch tire though. We'll see.

I have a 95 that has a 4" lift and had heavily worn bfg mud terrains (35x12.50x15) on chrome wagon wheels that got the death wobble probably 50% of the time when above 50 mph, even on a smooth road. PO spent several hundred dollars having a shop rebuild the entire frontend and I checked everything was tight...I swapped to the metric equivalent of 35x10.5x16 with aluminum wheels that were actually balanced and magically the death wobble went away!

Just picked up a 4.0 last weekend to swap in at some point. yeah me.
