I consider myself a Jazz Percussionist. Drums are a large part of it, but anything that makes a sound can be used in the melody. My dad taught me how to play drums and I played in his country band for a while. I then studied under a great Jazz Percussionist who's primary instrument was the Marimba, but she played the drums like no one I have ever met. I worked as her groupie during gigs and ran their lights and sound board.
I have played in a couple small bands and always get comments about my playing style as I feel the drums are a much broader instrument than just keeping time. My dad hated it since the songs they played were very simplistic and didn't sound good with the drums being a melodic component.
I currently only have an electronic kit and some congas and other percussion items, due to space. I miss being able to change the sound of the drums on the fly, but have learned to use them in other ways.
Hoot, that book is the story of my house the last few months. The cat we got as a handful of fur is now peeing on things she wants to claim (including my wife while she was sleeping in bed), because we inherited a cat from the SO's grandmother who is more dominant.
It's funny that the difference is like east and west coast. Our west coast beauty hisses at the new east coast kitty and the east coast kitty immediately changes course right for her with the expression: "Are you talking to me?!?!"
Love them both though... The dog is learning to keep them in check.
50lb Black Lab. Still a puppy (even at 18 months). All she really wants to do is play with them, but we are training her to "interrupt" the Catzican Standoffs. She still is not sure what to do but when she hears hissing and growling, she investigates and sometimes attempts to sit between them.
That's one of the reasons I like BadWeb. Other sites make you join some external picture site that you send you pics to, like photo bucket, and then download from there. I can download straight from my computer although I do have Photoshop which has a "save for web" button that allows you to shrink your photo's to a smaller size so it will fit the requirements of this sight. There is plenty of other photo programs that will do the same.
The file does need to fit within the file size and physical (pixels X pixels) size.
I think that is what stops most on their first try. I just Email the pic to myself in an email from my phone after selecting resize at 10%, or use selfie mode that takes the pic at the right size for here. I used to resize the picture on PhotoBucket.
All of my pictures are too large a file size, and I refuse to go through the process of resizing them.
....On a completely related note, I'd throw in some money for an updated site, one that would allow me post pictures from my phone without having to resize.
the easiest, most universal way to resize pictures on your computer IMHO is to 1. open the file on your computer 2. hit the "print screen" button on your keyboard 3. open MSPaint and hit "ctrl V" or paste 4. then use the little boxes at the edge of the image to crop out everything besides the image. and voila, it's perfect size for uploading. If it's still too big, you can "restore down" (the button between minimize and "x" in the upper right corner), drag the image to a smaller size, and repeat the process. this doesn't require an internet connection, or file hosting, or any external software.
+1 on Paint.net. It makes it real easy to resize, crop, and control the storage size of the final picture. I have no idea if there is an app version for you phone, but for the PC it's a snap. And free.
My sweetie had a very good observation about these- after one takes the time to go through the process and spends two (!) Bennies plus shipping, what's the probability that Fido will just chew these to shreds once nobody's looking?
