There are so many things wrong with our country/ world that it’s almost impossible to keep up with them. When I wake up in the wee hours of the AM, I have no shortage of things to worry about until I can fall back into a restless sleep.

Just to touch on a very few; there’s Global Warming/Cooling/ Climate Change, there’s President Trump, there’s the rest of the Republican Party, there’s Obama and the rest of the Democratic Party, and there are Communists, Antifa, Libertarians, White Supremacists and Black Lives Matter, there are Environmentalist Issues, Gun Control, the NRA, Illegal/Undocumented immigrants; and those are just within the United States alone!

And with the Mainstream Press twisting all the news to fit its agenda, how do I find the truth?

There’s the rest of the World. The Middle East, Russia, China, France, Britain, South and Central America, Africa. How much oil is left in the ground and who has control of it? And when are the next Plagues going to hit and how many people will survive them? And I’m pretty sure my computer is spying on me. How long will it be before Alexa, Google and Siri start telling me what I’m allowed to do, see and say?

However; I grew up in the ‘50s and ‘60s. Back then, we also had lots to worry about. When I was a kid, I had nightmares about The Bomb. It was going to kill most of the world off and plunge the few remaining people into a new Dark Age. Communists were going to take over the USA and subject us all into a micromanaged bunch of starving slaves.

Then came the Horrendous Ecological Disasters that were imminent. I remember reading in 1973 that by 1989, all major cities would have oxygen stations for pedestrians on the street and that it would rain concentrated sulphuric acid that would kill exposed and unprotected people.

And, of course, Politicians were corrupt. Nixon was run out of office because of the Watergate scandal. And Agnew was also run off.

The world sure was in a sorry state.

However, in spite of all the Doom and Gloom forecasts, I’m still alive. My life has been pretty interesting. The world keeps on spinning and the quality of life continues to get better. Science and Technology continue to advance. Problems are being dealt with and life keeps getting better.

Good news seldom makes it into the Newspapers or on the 6:00 newscast on the TV. It doesn’t sell. People are interested in the bad. So that’s what they focus on. And the more agitated they make you, the more you watch. (Now, what did that a**hole do today?) That means that they can charge more for ads and there are more ads to run.

I’m not immune. I have my own opinions, but it’s easy to forget just how important they are or are not. However, it’s good to look back over the past sixty years or so and see how many of the Prophesies of Doom have come to pass and how many were as scientific and real as Phlogiston.

My life is pretty freakin’ good. I think that life is going to continue to get better.

And besides, the Springfield Mile is only 141 days away; that’ only 104 days after the Patriots win the Superbowl.

I never dreamed life would be so amazing.

The steady diet of crap I am offered daily is little more than “noise”. I’ve political leanings, preferences and inclinations but will never allow an Obama, Trump, Pelosi or Kobach to chart my course nor dictate my day.

At a time I should be long retired I’m mired in opportunities I never dreamed I’d see in this lifetime, a happy healthy family and feel wrapped in love and wonder.

I’ve so little to complain about that it amazes me.

Bobby is sounding great right now....

I have my favorite drink in front of me. Monster Energy ZERO ULTRA on ice, a squirt of lime and lemon with 3 olives and a chocolate covered cherry. And potato chips on the side.

I have retired. The job offers keep coming in. I have training for the next 2 weeks. If you want me to work, I'm a sucker for learning new things. I am not looking for a job. But, I do like to travel.

The simple fact that we can complain about world shaking events & corruption, and not have our doors kicked in by armed, uniformed, thugs, shows that life is awesome.

That many of us would die to keep it so? Incredible.

So... Crusty's OP was a great Snippet.

I posted what I thought to be an adequate funnin' piece.

Mr. Canfield, thank you for yours. As time allows, plhhhleze post more of your photography, and whatever you remember to tell us.

EBeaaatch, is it possible for you to communicate without a meme?? Maybe one of these days, look out the window at a sunny day, and not see a sneering Albert Gore Jr., or other non-Republicans completely photoshopped to your delight?

QWERTY

I've had the great pleasure to see Bobby Mc Ferrin at TPAC in Nashville. Stage lit, all he needed was a sitting stool, a wireless mic, and a giant bottle of Evian. He owned the place. "Blackbird" was amazing.

The next night was Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians. All when they were new.

Got tomorrow off, going to see about a dear brother from another mother in hospital, gonna see about getting him home.

The sky isn't falling, we just need to watch out for one another when the clouds come in.

Revelation chapter 1

7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

It's going to be a wild ride.

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. (emphasis mine)
I love that verse. Yes, the big bang is real, and it's coming, so I hope you're ready!

Well, the sky isn't falling yet, but water is falling from the ceiling. For the first time in my life, I overflowed a bathtub - I thought my wife was keeping an eye on our 3 year old in the tub upstairs. Nope. And the overflow drain didn't do jack to keep the tub from overflowing. 2" of standing water on the floor, luckily the shop vac made quick work of it. And luckily, the bathroom is directly over the garage, I'm hoping that after the dripping stops the only damage will be a little sagging in the drywall. It sags already so hopefully with a quart of Kilz the landlord won't know any difference.

The glass is half empty or half full.
There is nothing new under the sun.
Tomorrow is promised to no one.
That is all
Thank you

The glass is larger than needed. ( the engineering answer )

Crusty, half of your deluge of doom are lies to manipulate you, so rest easy. : ) Part of the other half is understated and we are all in deep trouble.

So live life, stand your ground, enjoy it. Nothing is new except the good news that we'll colonize space. ( or go communist, starve, and die. ) In either case, enjoy the trip, and go not quietly into the darkness. ; )
