So, I'm watching TV and an ad for that "candy crush" game thing comes on. Is it me, or does that remind you a little bit of this:
Bonus points if you remember what the episode was about, or the name of it...hell, even name the series! |

Deep Space Nine Bajor's wormhole? Too curved to be The Doomsday Machine from season 2 of the original series where Commodore Decker lost the crew of the Constellation & his life. (Message edited by Aesquire on December 31, 2018) |

TNG episode where everyone got addicted to playing this game that some alien devised so he could take over the Enterprise. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Game_(Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation) Even featured a young Ashley Judd before she went BSC. |

Tng. I don’t remember the name of the episode, but it was a game. The headset gave you a shot of dopamine when you scored. It was a mind control device. The intrepid Wesley Crusher saved the day. |

Yeah, seems like DS9, it was some mind control game that everyone dismissed as a fad, you had to relax to play. One of the characters had a hard time getting it to work and someone told him that if he relaxed the game would practically play itself. But it turned out to be some evil plot to control others. That's as far as I can remember, I was probably 12 when it aired. |

I have a memory block on a lot of Next Generation. Not sure if it's Riker, Star Stud episodes, ( though I remember his Klingon exchange story ) or Wesley the Genius saves the Day ones. I vaguely remember this episode. I also missed a bunch of the Enterprise series, because the local station changed hands and was a 6 watt transmitter, but later in the season they ran an Ethernet cable down the street to hook into the Cable company. When I saw the first episode after the hiatus, it was time traveling alien Nazis time & I lost enthusiasm. Never did catch up, which, since I am far more a Trek fan than a Star Wars fan, is heretical, but shows my disappointment.... I've seen zip of the pay series now on. I'm a hard SF guy. Psych and sociological SF? Meh. I haven't seen a telepathy/psychic story worth while since James H Schmitz. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_H._Schmitz Cyberpunk left me cold. But.... taste is taste, I never fell in love with the Dune series either. I'm heavily influenced by having an Analog collection from '55 to the '90's ( When life & moves & distribution made it hard to be ocd about collecting ) the jr. High library decided to toss their collection ( mid '60's - early 70's ) so I got it, then bought the entire stock of Analog and F&SF from a local game/book store when it folded. Thus many of my favorite authors were never published in books, but now some are available from the Gutenberg Project, or have been revived in collections. The Poul Anderson books, etc. from Baen books are great. For a lot of old, our of copyright stories, check out, free! http://www.gutenberg.org |

Definitely "The Game" as mentioned. I just saw it on H&I a few weeks ago. |

If it ain't got Kirk, it ain't Trekkie-worthy. Did Jean-Luke ever get the girl? Hah! Patrick, Enterprise is the best since the original series in my opinion. |

Yes Jean-Luc got the girl. Then lost her, ( not always killed ) like Kirk, because he had plot armor against leaving. Can't have a happy, retired, Captain. Plus his untouchable, Beverly Crusher, widow of his best friend. Admittedly, Riker took Kirk's place as Star Stud, getting the odd Royal Princess, and hottie. ( in the OP quiz episode, too ) Poor La Forge played the doomed romantic. Even Beverly got laid. |
