That is cool. Hard to intercool with the early throttlebody setup though, but its even the same color as my van! If anyone wants to start a gofundme page for it I'd be more than happy to give it a good home next to the Voyager!

Back in the day...
Had a 1973 Impala wagon, little-old-lady car. Something like this but lots of surface rust.




Got a 400HP Z-28 motor cheap. 2-1/2" pipes dumped in front of the rear tires.
2-1/2" front, 3-1/2" rear lift with BFG A/Ts
Needed a stronger transmission.

Miss that car.

I had a 77 Chevy wagon. Much lighter than the earlier versions , but plagued with a 305.

Still have the 400 sb engine in my jeep that came out of my 72 caprice 2dr from back when.

Too bad things like that rusted out. Like the 68 Elcamino 327 4 spd that I had.....Camaros, Firebirds, etc.....etc.

Ha ha! I worked on those 73/74/75 impala/Caprice wagons when they were new. I just recalled the back window dumping the way back seat full of snow with its disappear into the roof trick. The handy power drop down gates hated winter also. Many of them had to be parked in the heated shop for a couple of nights to get them to work again.

This was my land yacht back in the day...

'72 Coupe deVille - 472 big block with 3 inch dual exhaust... Grateful Dead sticker across the rear glass. CB radio with a 300 watt linear amp and that roof rack hauled everything from 12 foot bundles of pipe to couches and refrigerators. Trunk always had at least 2 coolers full of beer.

I came close to buying an old hearse and stuffing a giant engine in it. My father and I talked about it for a while but it was the 70's and gas was so high at 62.9!!!! We decided to build a baja bug instead. I still wonder how many people we could sneak into a drive in with the hearse!

I still wonder how many people we could sneak into a drive in with the hearse!

For a fraternity rush event - bowling night - I had 27 people in my hearse. 3 in the front (bench) seat and 24 - relatively comfortable - in the back.

It was really fun at stop lights that night. Everyone would make the hearse sway left and right, and someone would reach from intrepid darkness and run their hand down the back window.

I broke a motor mount in it doing burnouts in it one semester. It was a one-wheel wonder, but man did it make those BFG Radial T/A's smoke...

We had 18 or 19 in my Satellite that year in Key West. 2 bench seats plus the trunk. Dave passed out center rear seat while I was driving back to the campground, and I saw him in my mirror. We passed it around the car that I would hand-sign one-two-three, slam on the brakes, and we'd all scream bloody murder. Pat, center front seat, turned around with his camera.

Photo 1 - Dave peacefully sleeping.
Photo 2 - Dave, same place, eyes WIDE open
Photo 3 - Dave, same place, SCREAMING
Photo 4 - blurry Dave, face slamming forward into Pat's camera.

Pat still has (much to his wife's chagrin) those photos epoxied into an end table in his living room.

At the time, the Satellite was a 450hp smallblock toy. Hi-12/lo-13 second quarters, sure-grip rear (factory 3.23 suregrip axle), 2400 stall converter, 3" duals, and we still drove it from MD to FL on a fairly regular basis.

I love my family truckster.
