I got back from overseas yesterday and my Red 1996 S1 had been stolen. I wont go into how much this bike means to me, suffice it to say amongst my collection, this one is the most prized.

If anyone sees it out in your area, Id truly appreciate a heads up. If it were recovered, I'll gladly award $2000 for leads that help directly to recovering it.

The bike was taken from the downtown area of Albuquerque, NM. I'll attempt to upload a picture of it. Some unique aspects of the bike as you can see from pictures are the two tone Kuryakn Red and black intake, the wrapped pipes, powder coated black frame and engine. The paint job's unique as well, the plastic has been removed from the tank and all the labeling has been painted.

Any help would be appreciated...

Man that sucks! I know how it feels and it just makes you SICK! I was fortunate and they found the thief and I was able to get my stuff returned. I hope you have the same fortune! Really nice machine!

Anybody who touches another mans bike should have their balls chopped. Sorry for your loss brother. While you are out protecting their freedom that allows them to perform such a cowardly punk act they are being the scum of the earth. I hope you find your love and if found dont take the reward money, duct tape the thief and allow you to have his way with him, that would be payment enough in my eyes. We need to make examples out of these lower than life losers....good luck brother

Pass the word, $4000 reward for any help that leads to the recovery of this bike...

Actually, make it $5000.

I've upped the reward on Facebook (through a buddy, I don't facebook) to $7500.00 for information leading to recovery of this bike, so I figured Id post the same on here. I really, really want this one back. Just bought another snap red one, but it'll never replace my original.

Any help/info/sightings would be appreciated...

If I see it (or any red S1), I'll make a note of the location and time.

However, to be honest, I imagine that it was parted out. That's what happened to my Moto Guzzi Sport when it got stolen back in 1978. My friend Ron's 750 Honda, which was stolen at the same time suffered the same fate. They found the frame to Ron's bike in the American River and it was cut in half.

Still, I'll keep my eyes open and my fingers crossed. Sometimes you get lucky.

Fingers crossed and eyes looking.
Good Luck, Alex.
Motorcycle thieves are just below the scum that violently robs old people.

Update....

My beautiful bike has been found, recovered and is now back in my possession! I am thankful to the NM Auto theft division and the shop owner who did the right thing and ran a VIN check on it.
I never took a payout from my insurance company in hopes it would be recovered (in fact I've been paying insurance on it since it was stolen (I didnt have the heart to uninsure it)). Sometimes good things happen.

Its an awfully colored black now (someone painted over the 3K paint job with a spray can), needs some TLC and some of the nice bits have been removed, but its mine and I cant wait to restore her.

I am in Tokyo now but upon my return from this contract, she'll be eating roads in NM up...

Here to a win for those of us Buell lovers out there.

That's cool. If you value this motorcycle so much then just do your homework, install alarm system, a GPS tracker or two, hidden kill switch, use disk locks on both wheels. It will cost you significantly less than $7500, and even in case those theft deterrent will not stop thieve you will have a good chance to recover the motorcycle with GPS trackers.
