I point out a famous case from NYC, where a man shot several gang members intent on robbing him, was severely prosecuted for alleged racist crazy hate crime. Anyone who actually has dealt with street gangs can tell you One of their weapons is the promise, often spoken loudly and clearly, that any attack ( in self defense ) on any of them, will bring the rest of the gang down on your family to avenge the perceived injury & insult. You resist a robbery & follow the standard legally accepted tactic of hurting the leader, and allowing the minions to run away, you will be murdered with your family. ( arson is preferred by the gangs, cowards that they be ) Such revenge for the insult of resistance is almost never reported by the press, but the police know..... And share the fear of such actions. So, logically, when a gang attacks a Citizen, the Only survivable tactics are submission, praying you aren't casually beaten or stabbed to death, or full, lethal, overwhelming force used to be sure the threat is actually neutralized. This nasty Truth is not a legal defense to my knowledge, in a dead end situation where the only hope of escape is to be, not only the only living thing left, but a criminal yourself, by not dutifully submitting to the Justice system....i.e. "Killed 'em all and ran away". This is NOT advice! This is a warning that logic & reality have traps in our legal system. And even the most sympathetic person who understands the situation, isn't going to like the Bad Movie results in the real world. There's a reason the Law isn't accepting that behavior, the abuse of the concept is far more common than It's defensive use. The above rant should illuminate the trap that The Mob, especially the Sponsored, semi professional, media blessed, modern Brownshirts, present to honest Citizens. Simply, The Propaganda Machine is aching to get the cell phone video of "The Enemy" shooting the would be murderer with a Molotov cocktail, or any other weapon. Just quivering in anticipation! There is nothing they want more. Better than a sex scandal, better than a live tv emotional explosion. After all, the purpose of having violent expendable, deniable, Mobs, is to expend them in the Cause of Progressivism. You don't push violence on people this way unless you WANT a violent response to EXPLOIT. And taking your freedoms is the Primary Goal. | ||

The cowards will run - it's what they do. Like those Geico commercials... Tucker's neigbors did about half of what I would have liked to see. They called him and said "there's a disturbance outside your house". He said he lives on a "very liberal street" but even though he disagrees politically with most of his neighbors, they do get along as neighbors and everyone likes the neighborhood. I'd prefer people outside, shouting "get the hell off my block!". Then, with more citizens around, they could demand arrests when MPD showed up instead of them simply "dispersing" the "crowd". | ||

To Ratbuell's points, a good friend of mine is a fairly prominent criminal lawyer in Baltimore City and he carries. He has always told me that the only reason he was able to get a permit is because he owned another (non-law-related) business and had to carry large amounts of cash. He explicitly said that "good and prudent" reason means only protecting the money, not anything else. I believe him. As far as the castle doctrine goes, quite a few years ago I had a very deranged man coming to my house threatening me and also accosting me in public. The detective assigned to his case told me I could do whatever I had to do but I wasn't taking that as legal advice. If he had gotten inside my house, my dog would have let me know and I'm sure I would have shot him regardless. He's doing 31 years right now and I'm very glad I did not have to. He actually is in desperate need of mental help but I doubt he's getting any. I felt sorry for him. But I would have shot him. | ||

Yeah, MD's "good and prudent" refers stritcly to your person (life/safety/injury), and to cash. Objects are insured and therefore do not qualify. Hopefully now that Hogan was re-elected, he can strike that line from the law... | ||

Sad part is...he's right. It isn't new. It just SEEMS new to most folks because this is the first the MSM has been fixating on it. This crap has gotten more press than ACTUAL SHOOTINGS of Republicans on a baseball diamond. Because now...it's Democrats who are "targeted" (I won't get into my thoughts that it's still total BS that THAT moron was capable of doing this on his own, and total BS that the recipients were in actual danger - did we ever hear what materials were actually in those packages?). Dems lose, they think they're entitled to win EVERYthing, so they get pissy. They issue recounts. They "find" ballots. They piss on election laws and rules over and over again. And if they get called on it, they holler "racism" and "voter supression". Bullshit. Get over yourselves. We don't owe you a ••••••• thing - just like the rest of us, you have to EARN what you get. We Don't Want You. Not because of your race. Nor your gender - whatever you choose that to be on a given day. Nor even because of your party affiliation. It's because YOU'RE IRRATIONAL. You think the world owes you something, and you do whatever you can - legal or not - to try and TAKE IT from honest Americans. And...I WON'T PAY FOR YOUR LIFE ANYMORE. Get out. Get out of office, get out of the pubic eye, and make room for someone - ANYone - who has ideas.
