Turns out that Elizabeth Warren has a "connection" to Carlos Bustamante, the geneticist who did her DNA testing. Does anyone beside me think her "testing" might be questionable?

Yet again, it is such a shame that our local and state laws, for the most part, prevent good citizens from being able to fight back.

Prayers for those we lost. I hope and pray we find a way to end stuff like this.

Agreed.

"for the most part", like I said in my last post.

That story just goes to show the effectiveness of responsibly-armed citizens, in locales smart enough to allow it.

Although, it doesn't surprise me that it hasn't hit the news cycle, like the synagogue story has. Funny, that.

It's funny, searching Obama Crowd Size brought back the "scandal" of Trump boasting about the crowds at his inauguration. The "can't rile up the press more than that!" " hold my beer" Donald Meme is absolutely, preciously, true. Wow, several thousand people. His next rally will have "countless" people there to see him. Obama couldn't draw flies, much less a crowd.

https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/10/m onk_judge_sultan_and_president.html

A historical perspective on Kavenaugh, taxes, and how nothing is really new.

I see Mueller is now claiming sexual misconduct blackmail paid by a Trump guy. Like a mirror on the recent Supreme court circus.

Unsubstantiated, blackmail. It's so convenient! Almost as good as a former Democrat living in a van with the Windows covered in shiny new anti CNN stickers. Who allegedly sent fake bombs to multiple Trump hating lefties just before an election.

While the facts are not all available, yet, a few things are apparent ( but not proven ).

None of the fake bombs was a functional bomb, or had actual explosives. Potentially dangerous "stuff".... Flour is potentially explosive. Some of the attached electronics, kitchen timers? Didn't have alarm or timer functions. Thus could not be used to set off a bomb. They were all fake.

A shiny van with the Windows only covered in propaganda stickers? Stickers on glass are easy to remove. Someone wanted to easily sterilize the van. Was the paint even scratched? No one in Florida keyed a Trump billboard van? White vans like that are readily available used, all white, former rental vans. ( I know, I've been shopping ) But shiny nice ones are in the $15k range. Who bought it? When?

When I've been a broke guy living in my van, the van was from my not broke days, paid for & rusty. Hmm. ( didn't last long, but I've been there )

So far, I've seen no evidence that this isn't a false flag operation paid for by someone. The family lawyer is vocal about setting up an incompetent/crazy defense..... And he's not the alleged bomber's lawyer.

I wish I had confidence that the FBI is going to be thorough and competent. After more than 2 years of obstruction, lies, plots, perjury, and blatant disregard for ethics from the highest levels of the organization, I almost expect the alleged bomber will suicide in his cell. And that's crazy talk! ( but I wanted it on record, just in case. )

But, all the above could be wrong, it could be a lone wolf attention seeker, who has "found a way" to get serial killer fame without the risk.

Before he disagreed. I read a piece claiming that his wife immediately pointed out that her parents were immigrants, and he immediately came to see that his statement was wrong. I really don't buy that explanation for a second though. Back then there wasn't the blurring we see now of legal/illegal immigration, and his comments were clearly dealing with illegal immigration.

If they were smart, they'd fill up the strategic oil reserve. Ostensibly for military use in a crisis, they dump some on the market when prices are too high to manipulate the price. ( been done multiple times )

Oil prices are high because several countries need it to be. Russia & Saudi Arabia, for example. By restricting exports, the price is kept up, despite U.S. production. It's a world market after all. China basically absorbs every drop they can get from Iran, ( they have a deal to support the Mullahs, and get a steady, discounted price, not market rate ) And buys what else it needs, which was increasing monthly.

Curious what the numbers are during this trade war.

From our perspective, we want prices to be high enough to support Arabia against Iran. But. That also aids Russia vs. Europe. Trump just pressured Merkel to buy U.S. Natural gas instead of funding a new Russian pipeline.

Oil prices are complicated.

I know...I was being rhetorical. I get all the economics, it just sucks when I have to fill up is all. Especially since most of what I use is diesel...which is what's left when they make unleaded, but it is still MORE expensive because it drives our shipping industries.

At least I get 22mpg out of my 255k mile Cummins, and betwen 26-32 out of my Jeep...dollars a gallon is high, but dollars a mile are kept nice and reasonable.

Diesel is more expensive than it used to be relative to gasoline because there isn’t a glut of it since they figured out how to employ catalysts to convert more oil per barrel into gasoline and less into diesel.

I’ve also read that the requirement for low sulfur content has driven up the price. The refinery processes used in the US that maximize gasoline production also concentrate sulfur in the diesel, necessitating supplemental processes to remove it. European refineries are designed to produce more diesel per gallon of crude and don’t concentrate the sulfur in the diesel fuel.

If they were smart, they'd fill up the strategic oil reserve.

I wonder if we've outgrown our need for it or at least it's not as "strategic" as it once was? We have such a large proven reserves now that it's unlikely OPEC can threaten us with embargoes as they could in the past. US daily production is over 11.5 million barrels per day.

Granted, having over 700 million barrels (currently 400+ MB) ready to go is handy but it makes most sense to top it off when prices are low or to absorb temporary over-production without affecting the market price.

Now I'm no T. Boone Pickens, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express three days ago. Oil is an interesting subject.

I have a couple of very small shares in Texas fra cked wells.WHy did that get censored?????
Enough that I get $5-600 a month, I like higher oil prices.
Free money to me...

Gas prices are more dependent on federal/state/local taxes than barrel price for oil.
Filled up yesterday for $2.65 regular.

We have such a large proven reserves...

Oil needing to be pumped//steamed/spell hounded/vaporized, out of the ground isn't oil, yet. Can't run a truck or a ship on a promissory note. You need stuff ready to process into jet fuel, in a tank, or better yet, jet fuel, in a tank, where you need it.

the Strategic reserve has been used more for an economic weapon, in large part psychological, more than an actual reserve tank we tap to run the military... Presidents can lower the price of gasoline just by threatening to unlock the valves on the SPR.

And... as you can see, it's actually used to solve temporary problems... Hard to believe.

https://www.energy.gov/fe/services/petroleum-reser ves/strategic-petroleum-reserve/spr-quick-facts-an d-faqs

I remember when Bill Clinton was telling everyone he was cutting the government, but not the military, ( he was lying, he expanded the civilian government bureaucracy, and cut the military ) and proudly announced he was going to eliminate 2 crazy, obsolete, WW2 subsidy programs. Mohair & Helium. There was a program to ensure that we'd have enough mohair to cover Jeep seats, and helium to fill our anti-submarine blimp fleet.

I agreed on the jeep seats. I haven't heard of any problem with that, but, I admit, I don't buy mohair to make reproduction jeep seats. The price may have skyrocketed.

Helium did. And unlike Mohair, where you can grow more, Helium is mined out of a diminishing limited geographic location, almost the whole planet's supply, from Texas. If you don't have the facility to store multiple airship loads.... like hundreds of airships, unfortunately paid for by the taxpayer, then the price?

Fortunately, Congress has over ridden most of the damage done by Bill, but not eliminated it, Helium is Expensive. And it's all more complex that I just said. What isn't?

Except that the strategic oil reserve consists of crude oil, not refined product and still must be processed into fuel before it hits the retail market. It can be drawn down at a rate of 4.4 mb/d while total US refining capacity is about 19 mb/d. The oil reserve is located in the south while refineries are located throughout the country and easily serviced by existing crude oil pipelines from the production sites (there's a 36" line running from Coalinga, CA to the Richmond oil refinery in the SF Bay Area. Dig in that area and watch everyone get nervous).
Russia can threaten Europe's oil supply and China is at the mercy of the Middle East but between the US, Canada and Mexico, we're sitting pretty good.
