First; Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday Morning at 2:00 AM. Make sure you turn your clocks back (except in Arizona – unless you’re on an Indian Reservation. Or unless you’re in a foreign country. Or on Mars. Or Somethin’)
Second; next Tuesday is Election Day. Get off your dead ass and Vote. I don’t care if you’re voting Republicrat or Democan; if you don’t vote, you have no right to bitch, whine or snivel about how the Guvmint is screwing you. Not voting is a vote for the people you don’t want to see elected.
Already voted.Early.Repub.Tired of how the libtard Dems have ruined this country and " we the people".Puts space and vacuum to shame.End of political rant.LT
This came from my Mother-n-Law. I need to go get my Grandma's clock. My Uncle is holding it for me. Grandma's is nearly the same but will strike 1/4 hours. I think I'll visit him in the morning.
I like old clocks and getting them back in time. Sometimes it is a challenge. I have been toying with a 30 day clock for a while now and almost have it running again. I think my wife moved it when dusting. I can't consider it fixed till I see it run for 30 days on it's own. I don't work on other people's clocks though. It's a hobby.
Actually, just returned from early voting. In looking at the parking lot and chatting with staff, it seems that the overall turnout is heavy so far. At least in this area.
And as they say in Chicago, vote early, vote often . . .
The company I work for gives us 2 hours off, paid, to vote. They also send out email once a week "reminding" people to vote. There will also be posters and announcements all next week.
They take no stand on the issues or politicians, just encouragement to do your civic duty.
I often make the joke about getting out of Jury Duty, just tell them you'd be perfect for jury duty since you can tell if someone is guilty, ( snaps fingers ) just like that!
Yet, I've never done that. Not that I'm thrilled with the responsibility, but it's only fair to the community that there be at least one juror as crazy as me to balance out someone crazy in a different direction........ I'm not sure I said that right.
When it was the dark days of the draft, I didn't burn my card, I went to the recruiter to see if I could get a better deal.... Chaplain's assistant in Des Moines wasn't available, but they promised I could be something they called a "tripwire" someplace called the Fulda Gap, which they told me was the cleavage of the barmaids in the area.
OT, but I worked with a guy who had been in the Polish army in the ‘70’s as a tanker. I asked him if they were told that the Americans were planning on attacking, he said no. That surprised me.
My son and I have already taken advantage of early voting. So far over 1.3 million people have taken advantage of early voting in Arizona. Final turn out is predicted to be heavy.
We're in Arizona so we don't change time. I like it that way.
OT: Last time I got picked for jury duty, I was almost last in line to be interviewed. 90% of the people before me presented some lame ass excuse as to why they couldn't serve and the judge actually got in a couple of the people faces telling them how lame their excuse was and "reminded" them that they were bordering on contempt of court and could be fined or thrown in jail for lying to a judge.
He got to me and asked: "So, what's your excuse"?
I responded: "No excuse your Honor, I'm here to serve my civic duty as all citizens should be".
I was selected despite the fact I said a police officers testimony carried more weight than a criminals.
For some reason, I've never been called for jury duty. I think I might know why, but then again, I'm not sure that they have lists of people who will never be called upon.
I'm fairly conservative, politically, but I have a few liberals as friends. I've spoken with two of them and they will be at the polls. They honestly believe that Trump is a Nazi and that Kavanaugh is a sexual predator and that the Government is going to take away all kinds of rights. One was in tears when I questioned her. The political climate has many people terrified and they will be voting. Make sure you get out and do the same. (Vote, not get terrified) Push your friends to vote. Voting is not just a right; it's a duty. Unless you really believe that Hillary would make a better president than Donald Trump and that Maxine Waters displays high moral values, you need to be at the polls on Tuesday.
