Harley invests in Mission Motors to develop the Livewire; Mission closes its doors. Harley next opens a relationship with Alta Motors, now they are shuttering. Harley, PLEASE stay away from Zero??

I suppose they have done a good job of "flushing out the electric bike market..." and probably not their intention.
I have an Alta dealer nearby in Frederick, and have considered it for a commuter....

That's HD's business plan.

Can't beat the competition?

Buy 'em and run 'em under.

How can they continue to bleed that kind of money? Can't raise the price of cruisers an more because people aren't buying as many now due to the price and changing demographic.

Were these partnerships or did the buy a large portion of the company? Seems like they should have a decent amount of intellectual property by now.

...and the IP may be what they're after. The tractor motor proves they don't have much in the way of original thought at HD, so they have to buy it from somewhere...

It's common to go out to a specialist motor company for new motor design. Look at Vrod (Porsche), 1125 (Rotax), etc. You buy the design IP from the contract company. Not sure they did this with the M8 or the engines in the XG (sort of a revolution engine), and their new bikes, but it's possible.

To destroy a company so that you can buy it cheaper at auction is very likely illegal. Yes I know Hero managed to pull it off, but I bet Harley would not be so lucky.

So does this mean that Livewire will be delayed again?
