Market value of your car is effectively defined by craigslist in your area for the exact vehicle they wrecked. I've always fought the other party's insurance when I could not simply go out and replace what they wrecked at their offering price and they've always renegotiated up until I accepted.

When they broadsided me in my 84 Westfaila I argued with them by faxing Craigslist ads.

Every insurance company operating in your state must be licensed by the state. Insurance companies love to argue with you and screw you over. They live in fear of having to answer to the state. Any complaint filed against an insurance company is a bad review in the state's eyes whether it's resolved in their favor or not. No company wants to risk losing their license
I believe that in New York it begins with the Dept of Financial Services. All states have a similar agency. Check their website for the proper procedures. Document your conversations with the insurance company and let them know you are willing to file a complaint if you feel they are dealing in bad faith. They don't want the put in a position where they are standing in some govt official's office getting that "why are we here" look.

Hmmm.. that's interesting. Badgering me with letters written the day after the accident might fall into that bad faith scare tactic area.

Bought a Kia Soul today, pickup on Tuesday. Mods will be dashcam install (first thing), light bar on the front, and maybe roof bars:

My grille is a bit different and will take some cutting to fit the light bar.

Also need a hitch assuming I'll ever be able to ride a motorcycle again so that I can hopefully get some racing in next season.

Got my dash cams mostly installed, need to get permanent power tapped in and get the @sshole button connected (saves the current clip from deletion) so I can highlight idiots around me. Now I can think about other mods.

What dash cam setup did you go with? I've been thinking about installing one for years, but have never pulled the trigger. I commute about 600 miles a week and see more than my fair share of asshats

Innovv K1 but I think it may be out of production. I have 1 DVR unit plus motorcycle camera kit and car camera kit. Length of cables and waterproof cameras are the only difference. Not sure if the K2 has a car kit, but it does have water resistant DVR now.
