But all of this requires reading and comprehending a grammar book. Most spellchecks and autocorrects...aren't. They're preloaded by people who never read a grammar text.
Its = possessive form It's = contraction for "it is"
Example- my EBR 1190SX: "Its power is impressive. It's a fast motorcycle."
The mistake that kills me is the lack of use of "too". I'm convinced that word is going to disappear from general use in another 5 years. I'll bet 75% of the posts on FB fail to use it when they should. My brain has to do a reset every time I read a sentence where they fail to correctly use it. Example- "That motorsickle is to fast."
My frickin lawnmower dying on me. For years, even after winter storage, started on first pull. Last mowing time, started right up, died in <5 seconds. Tried cleaning spark plug, all the basics, then the pull cord broke. ARRRGGGHHHH!!! I'm pretty sure the whole neighborhood heard the F word that day.
Today, fixed the cord, bought a new plug, still dead. Gotta borrow a neighbor's mower AGAIN.
I have a $79 mower that I bought in '08, for exercise/PT after my get-off. I presume it has an oil tank - I've never checked, drained, nor filled it. I put fuel in it, use it, park it, repeat.
Early this summer, it wouldn't start. Oh well, I guess it's finally time. But...it nagged at me. Must. Fix. Pulled the foam-block air filter out, it was soaked with oil and caked with dust and dirt. Cleaned it, reinstalled it...runs like a champ again.
I watched the CraigsList for a pattern. I found the guy that bought and sold Snappers after he went through them. Like buying a certified used mower. Only cost a few dollars more than buying the used mower and going through it myself. So, I sold the used mower I bought and had started going through before I sunk too much into it.
I mess up the apostrophe business from time to time. Correct me politely, I won't mind.
I also use English spelling fairly often. That I won't apologize for. It's just how the word was spelled in the First book I read it. Also, sometimes the American spelling just looks stupid. Licence. License. What---ever. If my sense of Humour doesn't please, don't laugh.
Did all that stuff, friends. Dang thing still feels like its got good compression... I dunno. I've used and abused the thing for years now, maybe it's time to move on. Oh well.
I have been accused of being a grammar nazi on several forums.
I was attacked on the XLforum for _politely_ pointing out someones 5% grasp of the English language even though that person was born and edumacated in the US.
There is always room to learn is my thought and language skills tend to expose ones lack of education (and in some cases, learning disabilities). I have volunteered at adult literacy workshops many times and have nothing but the utmost respect for those that want to learn and improve.
"Things that make me super happy to have great friends and neighbors"...
Went to borrow my buddie's lawnmower again. Showed up, and he gave me a weird look- "I just remembered I have an extra mower!" GAVE it to me. Brought it home, sprayed some Lucas top-end juice through the spark plug hole, filled the dry/empty tank with fresh gas and more Lucas- c'est voila! Started on 2nd pull. Yard mowed beautifully, with bagger, cold beer in hand now.
A brother from another mother. I don't believe in something for nothing, once I get some $$$ in hand, gonna throw his way, maybe with a good bottle of wine.
YAY day. Getting ready to grill tandoori spiced chicken, honey's made black beans and rice with avocado salad and tostones, friends arriving soon.

I just built a project that uses Kobalt 24 volt batteries. Bought everything from the Lowes 8 blocks away. Happy.
I was looking around on Ebay, and I typed in Kobalt 24 volt battery. Holy crap! There was one guy that has a charger for sale for $157.00+ of course with free shipping. They cost $39.00 at any Lowes nation wide.
Are there people that actually buy stuff like that? On a desert island with internet and drone delivery?
Another one was when I was shopping for shocks for my scooter. Some guy in Australia wanted $500.00 for a set of used stock shocks. You can buy new ones from Honda for like $70.00 each.
I guess it's like the kid with the lemonade stand that wants $25,000.00 for a cup. He only has to sell ONE.

I feel all youins pain! Mom was an English major! I'm with Hugh though. The word too having more than one meaning yet it's not used correctly. Ex. That Harley is TOO heavy and expensive TOO.
