I am sure all you weed haters don't drink. And all you ppl who say weed is illegal don't speed. Hypocrites. I don't think anyone has taken a position, for or against weed in this thread. Perhaps something has clouded your perception. What has been discussed is how a public display of smoking weed can relate to Elon Musk and his companies, both of which are very dependent on the government at this point. Having said that, weed, alcohol, speeding, etc., are all individual issues with their own problems. Or would I be equally hypocritical for thinking heroin should be illegal? |

Um...was he driving 104 mph in the interview? Chugging beers? Doing shots? The "what" is immaterial. The "image", regardless of your controlled substance of choice, is pretty poor. Nothing hypocritical involved. |

I don't want a drink. I don't won't some weed. I want to speed. I don't act outside of the methodology of my prosaic lifestyle. So, maybe we can chill on the name calling. If not, I don't really care. Peace out. |

Not related to the big fat fatty, or maybe there is a connection. Anyway, it looks pretty bad for Musk and Tesla... SEC Sues Elon Musk For Fraud, Seeks Removal From Tesla |

Squids, that parallels a NY study from... long ago, that tested Maryjane & liquor on a closed track, with cars. The basic results were they measured performance at multiple levels of intoxication, sober, lightly buzzed, really buzzed and wasted. Don't recall how they determined the levels. Tests were DOT standard avoidance tests, lane change in response to a light, etc. Not, I must add, lap Times. Wasted, everyone was a hazard. As you'd expect. At lightly buzzed, Maryjane testers were Safer than when sober. More alert, more cautious. At pretty buzzed, not as bad as alcohol, but still failed. Alcohol users declined with every stage. As you'd expect. Is this an endorsement for light recreational use of pot while driving? No. Definitely not. But it was interesting that it's not as simple as many would have it. I try to be libertarian on the subject, and personally fail, since I have a hard time with crack and other drugs being used often, but we lack a good study on the relative destruction of the Drug War & the growth of Organized Crime, vs. less restricted use, and the fallout from that. I don't think Holland or San Francisco are good examples of less restrictive drug use, since there are other factors that contribute to the "needle park" problems and acceptance of public intoxication. I don't have a simple answer for you, and I distrust anyone who says they do. ( across the board ) |

Public comments from a CEO can be a real problem. The extra problem of twits, in that more people, see your comment, faster, than if you called a prime news time press conference from an active volcano, wearing a tutu, is serious..... Combined with the ease of making an asinine comment in the heat of the moment, devastating. A prime example is the late night bathroom twit. Donald is infamous for those. Many folk, not just the mature, (old) use diuretics as part of daily medical treatment, so the 3 am. visit to the John is common. Many, like me, have a book or magazine spot in reach so the chore of relieving metabolic produced water isn't a boring thing. Many modern folk use a phone or tablet for the same purpose. So..... It's 3am. Ho hum, let's see what's happening? Oh! Those dirty so and sos! What an outrage! How dare they! And the fingers get moving, then you find that while still half asleep & farting ( you don't want to have that image of anyone in your head, really ) you've alienated seventy five million people, without intending to. Perhaps a well considered version of your comment that women should carry a grenade to punish rapists would be better? Or usually not made at all? But explaining your sarcastic intentions, or the deeper meaning that rapists, in your opinion, should be swiftly eliminated from the gene pool, after reading some horrific account of a serial offender...... Nearly impossible. And that's you, without the massive, critical audience, because you aren't the CEO of Ford, or Tesla. The corrupt DOJ went after, and Jailed! A CEO for just publicly claiming innocence. The "Martha Stewart Rule" is don't talk to federal agents, period. ( since they will twist your words. See current Trump Witch Hunt ) The Media and activists have even less restraint at misquoting or even outright lying about your comment. So, yeah, I got that you were furious and wanted women who were being murdered to be able to revenge their imminent deaths, on the spot, to reduce future rape murders, at least from that one repeat ( & repeatedly released by Sanctuary leftist culpable law enforcement ) murderer. But lots of people are going to call for your balls on a platter, and if you are famous? Good grief. |

In the rich crazy people news, Lindsay Lohan gets punched by a mom after she "tries to steal her children" ( not really steal...) The best part of the AP story is the comment from some guy who posts that if she wants to make another bad life choice, he's awake. |

people have always been stupid, and stupid people have always been everywhere. Social media just gives individual dumbasses a larger audience, that's all. Another reason I survive just fine without social media. I see more than my share of "stupid" in real life, I don't need to channel it to my phone or computer as well. |

Yes, no doubt he’ll be fine. Has to suck though. 20 million is still 20 million. 81 days of income as a fine would certainly hurt me. I’d still be fine. But it would suck. The worst part for Musk might be the newly mandated board members and his loss of position. |

What will hurt him is devaluation of his stock price. That's almost a certainty if he is removed from Tesla. Some have been betting on that for a while now anyway. It will make the fine seem like nothing. Or Tesla could do well. I'm really not going to give a prediction. |

>>>The worst part for Musk might be the newly mandated board members and his loss of position. Agreed. Coupled with the fact that his behavior . . the simple things like manner and demeanor in dealing with folks . . . makes him look unpolished and likely far less smart than he is. |

Watching FBN this AM. They are talking about Elon's fine. "He probably spends more than that on marijuana every year". I see they will be removing him as an officer of Tesla. That is good news for Tesla and it's share holders. The analysts said he got off with a slap on the wrist. I tend to agree. It's possible the SEC didn't want to damage the share holders by removing Elon. |
