... heard this on WDVX the other day. Tim O'Brien is fantastic, and I found this video, with Darrell Scott on mandolin.
Last Friday I got to see Darrell Scott again in concert. Years ago, he played at the Shed... I led him and Danny Thompson on a ride around here, no too fast.

I love just about everything I've ever heard from Alison Krauss. She's part of the reason that my daughter is named Alyson.
But, one day I heard her on the so-called "country" radio station singing some stupid hip-hop song - you know the songs they're calling "country" music these days. I have to say the same about my long-time favorite Jamey Johnson. I hate hearing traditional Country artists singing these mindless bubble-gum club songs.
But, she still has an amazing voice and has sung a lot of incredible music over the years. And she can sure fiddle, and if anything she's gotten more beautiful over the years.
Oh, and Union Station? Jerry Douglas, Ron Block, Dan Tyminski... good grief!

TQ, what song was that?! I'd not think that she'd do a song that sucked. She did some weird stuff with Robert Plant, but none of it sucked...
I saw a TV show, a documentary maybe, where she and several other awesome musicians were talking/hosting a young musician talent show (IIRC), and her speaking voice is SO different from her singing voice. Maybe I could find that sometime, I'll post up.
And- I've said it several times here on the BW, the BEST radio station ON EARTH is "East Tennessee's Own, WDVX". I highly recommend streaming it on your 'puter. Listener supported... they started out literally in a single axle camper up in Norris, TN, now they've got a studio in downtown Knoxvegas, sharing space with the East Tennessee Visitor Center. It just doesn't get any better.

I like both kinds of music....Country and Western. "Modern country stars" Is like reading the KJV bible then having someone preach out of the Nearly Inspired Version. Not really Country. Close, but, not really. Heretics.
I was born there, moved to E TN in 1990- dang but it's fun to get back to Nashvegas every now and then! Talk about a "foodie" town now, and ALL KINDS of music. Traffic and property values are horrible (high) now though.
