That's cool, I was thinking that 1250 was possibly a larger version of the Vrod engine. The V-rod is an 1130cc built similar to this right? It's stock HP is 115hp. I guess that is what I was basing it off of. |

I personally would love to see a v rod motor in an XB type frame if it could fit. Wait wouldn't that just be tricked 1125? |

Wasn't that the original intent for the Revolution motor project, until HD got their hands on it and porked it up so the engine weighed nearly as much as a whole XB and Erik waved off, and used the aircooled motor in the XB frame even though the frame was meant for liquid cooling? Later V-rods were 1250s; as far as I can tell the new motor is not based on the Revo motor. And again - it all depends who designed it, who built it, and what the priority set was. Potato-potato noise? Torque, with a 5k redline? Broad powerband? World-beating (or at least, competitive) overall power and torque? And I think the new motor is supposed to be "modular", from 750 to 1250 - didn't I read that in the article? |

I love the little 2" section added to the frame to make it fit! I wonder what else they did to jam it in there? Pipes are just held on by zipties though. Perhaps it's just a non-runner action figure with empty cases just to try it out? |

They had to have beefed up the suspension. I bet that engine is like 70 lbs heavier. |

I don't understand why... The date on that image says my 1125R was 2 years old then. Has to be a 4 year old mule when the pic was snapped. Z |

If they got rid of the silly Flash Gordon mufflers it would be pretty slick. Do something cute with the radiator and it would probably be pretty sweet. |

Put the radiators in big ugly pods that double as frame/tank savers. Not really ugly, I love my Loretta. |

Zac, the date on the photo suggests it might have been taken on the way to the dumpster out back. I don't like the pipes either, but the concept itself done up Uly style could have made a nice luxo sport tourer. |

If you look in the background right above the rear tire there is something back there with a BMW emblem on it. |

Buell like most cycle manufacturers bought other companies products for comparisons and other information. |

Yup, I seem to remember seeing some in the dumpster at one of the shutdowns. I forget what manufacture it was, but nothing domestic. |

Reviving an old thread, just because its 3 months to riding season, reflecting on Brankin's picture of the XB-Rod above doesn't cost anything, and you guys are always fun to hear from when I color outside the lines. 1. Move the radiators to the sides like Zac suggested. Cover them to make decent lower fairings for wind protection. 2. Give it an honest to goodness full size touring front fairing like 1150 RT, Triumph Trophy, etc.. 3. Put fairly decent size bags that each can hold a full face helmet and a pair of gloves. a trunk would be nice too. 4. Instead of two gaudy chrome right side cruiser pipes, put one clean stainless can on either side. Tadaaa. American made version of the ST 1100, FJR, Concours.( you get the picture) The Uly is a great looking bike, but despite its capability, (to me anyway) it looks more dual purpose than Sport Touring |
