I visited a Waste Management plant in 2007 or so and they had a picking conveyor belt for ordinary garbage where employees grabbed clear glass, aluminum, etc. for separate recycling. After the recession, the prices they could get crashed and I assume they just landfilled it all. In our area, they can't get any price for glass recycling, so it goes to landfill. Our county uses the same landfill, but they take glass in the recycle bin. I haven't asked why.

Pretty much the same here. It all goes into the landfill. The small town down the road from me is getting lots of complaints about smell. The trains from New York city apparently spend time sitting on the tracks there getting ripe. So the stench is periodic.

I console myself thinking these landfills are the mines of tomorrow. Waste Management pulls lots of methane out of the landfills and generates power with it. Pretty sure there's a credit system they get tax breaks or payments with.

Someday, the current landfills will be fed into plasma from fusion and the molecular bonds broken. Then magnetic fields and lasers will pull elemental level materials out. The Fifth Industrial revolution. ( or sixth, depending on how you number them )

That's assuming we delay the oncoming ice age, considering the "20 years to Fusion" mantra that's on continuous reset.

A pity that Crews hadn't published a few years earlier when I nearly failed psychobabble 101 because I called Freud a "coke head with mommy issues" in a term paper. The teacher worshipped Freud.

His relevance today is the insanity of triggering. You can't mention that ( for example ) guns in the hands of students might reduce campus rapes. Some students will claim to be traumatized by the thought of violence or rape or personal responsibility, thus you have attacked them and must be purged.

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2018/06/giant-sucking- sound-process-claims-to-be-able-to-suck-fuel-strai ght-out-of-the-sky/

This is a follow up con game to the English claim they can make gasoline from air.

It's true! Gasoline from air!

There are a few steps in the process, however.

First, you dehumidify the air, to pull out the water vapor, and condense it.

Second, you pull out the CO2. The above system will reduce the price on that substantially. They Claim.

Then you break the water into hydrogen and oxygen. Standard electrolysis stuff, grade school chemistry.

Then you combine the CO2 with Hydrogen, in a few more, slightly energy intensive steps, you end up with Methanol, which you can burn like gasoline, or, if you are picky, a few more steps into a synthetic gasoline substitute that will actually run in a car without modification.

All it takes is multiple chemical plants, and a multi megawatt nuclear power plant or equivalent to provide the incredible amount of power and heat to run all these processes.

Needless to say, the amount of energy consumed is far more than the energy put out in the form of car fuel. Like using a tanker truck full, to fill your Ford Expedition's tank.

But the Canadian CO2 capture process, ( actually nothing new, just a standard chemical plant repurposed to a new and exciting way to get tax money ) will lower the overall cost of the entire scheme enormously.

So instead of running your car on crushed gem quality diamonds, you can run it on crushed Emeralds. Maybe next year, for the cost of crushed rubies.

https://www.wired.com/2012/10/fuel-from-air/

https://newatlas.com/air-fuel-synthesis-gasoline-f rom-air/24739/

Even the cheerleaders for this idea can't get past the fact that you need 60 kWh to put 9 kWh in your tank.... and that is for ONE LITRE.

Even the most dire complaints about the efficiency & pollution issues with electric cars running on coal fueled power plants are jokes compared to this con game.

Seriously, don't invest in this unless you know they've got the right bribes in place to get tax money.

It's official. Climate Change is religion.

I'm not against Climate Change. Nor an I against earthquakes. Or volcanoes.

I admit to some resentment towards gravity. She's a harsh mistress.

I'm pretty sure that the Pope's Crusade against Climate Change, like the Iranian Mullah's jihad on Climate Change, will manifest itself as war against Western Liberal Civilization, and the theft of other's wealth and freedoms.

Because it's really the whole point, from the beginning, to use fear and jealousy to raise hatred, so that evil men can take power and wealth.

Even the United Nations group on Climate Change says it's about power over people.

Ultimately, sure. Asteroid strike due long before that. Super-volcanoes. Due.

My bet is on Satan Bug. That former Soviet island soaked in bio-war agents, that's now connected by an isthmus to the mainland, on that Sea they killed.

Makes sense that you can now just walk in, cut a few fences, and just dig a few shovel fulls of dirt and kick start a bio weapons program in an ecological disaster zone that is the poster child for leftist environmental impact. "Better" yet would be to dig open a bunker or lab. Russian Roulette indeed. Could be just anthrax, could be https://www.cdc.gov/smallpox/ Note that "rare" airborne transmission warning predates modern sealed buildings with Legionaire's disease prone HVAC systems.

Most likely from a lab in Iran or Pakistan, or anywhere radical Greenies live. Depends on the novels you read. ; )

Tom Clancy's Executive Orders had Iran as the culprit with Ebola, Rainbow Six had rich Greenies.

The really scary possibility is bio script kiddies. Any well equipped college has the gear to make a new life form. Recent research offers the ability to engineer a "bug" that targets ethnic groups. Blondes, Semites, whatever.

This was all novel material a few years back. Some consider it inevitable now. The technology exists.

Good old Venn diagrams! The subset of people smart enough And crazy enough. That's who you worry about.

Oddly enough, I see parallels with Colorado.

Colorado legalized pot, but threw enough bureaucracy and taxes at the subject to guarantee a thriving black market. The Obama administration, between bong hits, persecuted the pot businesses by forbidding banks to safely handle the money involved, leading to murder & organized crime.

You'd think keeping criminals happy was the primary goal of progressive Dems.....

While in England, a giant pot farm, government licenced! exports tons of product that is forbidden by their own Socialized medicine system. Claims of corruption, too.

You'd think pot as medicine would be embraced by the NHS, as it is by the Labour party and Greens. I'm guessing it's just lag. The incredible inertia of established bureaucrats.

Full disclosure, a close friend was helped through chemo with pot, as was another with AIDS. OTOH, both have passed on, from Chemo & AIDS, so palliative care does not equal cure.

Patrick -
I sure wish you'd quit bagging on Colorado.
I like living in the first state to legalize pot.

It's only 50+ years since Ozzy first sang Sweet Leaf.

Just another pot-head biker hippie...........
I told the kid at the counter that I'd been waiting for the day I could buy pot with my VISA card for longer than he'd been alive.

Life still rocks

My complaint is NOT that they legalized Pot.

It's that they did it poorly. Just could not resist trying to tax it, create a big bureaucracy with those taxes, and micro-manage people's lives. Combine that with the hypocritical Obama regime demanding that Banks not take Pot Money and multiple other threats and intimidation actions... and you have a problem with crime that's just not necessary.

And hypocrites annoy me, even when I am one. Barry the Weasel probably smoked more pot than most in his life, and I cannot believe he didn't do a joint in the White House. ( could YOU resist? You've got sniper teams and rocket launcher equipped elites, Plus the Marines! keeping anyone from bothering you, and there are shield rooms .... or the Kennedy Room in the secret basement from Mars Attacks. ) Yet his minions were very aggressive at picking on users.

I could see a nasty enforcement ethic with Pence, he's got a kind of uptight extreme reputation. But Stoner Barry? Foul.

The Hilarious part is Trump might just be the guy who insists on simply taking the pot prohibition law off the books as obsolete, and not building another bureaucratic Empire around exploiting it....

As I often say, the 3 stages of government interference in your life are.
None of your business.
None of your Damn business.
And No wonder they want to take our guns.

I remember sneaking into a Rocky Mountain Bong-A-Thon in Colorado when I was way under age. I was not surprised to see my sister there.

Thing was, it was a yearly event for a while in the 70's. Only people that got arrested were the ones trying to drive away.

We are seeing the same bureaucratic mess with legalized weed here in taxafornia. It's already cheaper to buy black market weed than go to a legit store, but the stores have better quality.

There are several lawsuits either in motion or in planning to fight the extreme taxes.

That's why we need to move to Mars. Polluting the planet will make it more habitable and will be better for the planet's ecosystem. Which we have yet to build.

I'll run for EPA chief of Mars.

Everyone will be required to drive smokey diesel trucks, ride 2-stroke motorcycles, and car-pooling will be forbidden. There will be a 10MPG MAXIMUM on all new vehicles. On the weekend (which will be 4 days long, not 2), everyone will be required to tow their boats to the lake.

The DOD will routinely test nuclear bombs, and ironically, the power grid will be made up of coal and wind turbines. The greenies will think that's cool, but anyone who's researched the subject will know that wind turbines increase pollution. Which is of course the goal on Mars.

I've been arguing "climate change" with a friend of a friend on social media.

It devolved to being called a sociopath while simultaneously being told that my "kind" will be going extinct soon.

I'm not a science denier...though I refuse to be a reality denier.

The wasteful sociopolitical crusades of the devout left are unending.

I wrote along winded, ( no! Really? ) rant last night on the history of Russian programs to ruin The West through various means, including the creation of the Greens in Germany, and the current anti fracking movement here. Then deleted it, since..... Boring. And useless to convince useful idiots.

And today, everyone that watches the Network News is a useful fool, if not a classical Stalinist idiot. After all, they teach this in school, along with hatred for dead white guys like Jefferson, and it's been the virtue signalling cause since the late 1990's. Daily lies for power & profit.

Besides, you can explain the current Russian funding of anti tracking without connection to the Russian created Green Movement. Putin runs an oil exporting country, uses his oil & gas to leverage Europe, and it makes sense he doesn't want cheap oil.

In fact the last half decade has been hard on Russia because of our fracking technology. Current oil prices are due in large part to the loss in oil from various countries, like Venezuela and ISIS occupied Iraq, with a boost by OPEC trying to control prices.

So I don't have a good answer on how to convince the programmed.

I'd guess you'd disagree, but the Berkeley council may be right. The Climate Crisis may be the greatest threat to civilization, ever.

As they say, the Death toll may well be in the many billions.

I resist their calls to cancel civil rights in the name of saving billions of lives, but if that's unavoidable, then we may indeed need to imprison & eliminate all Greenies before they kill us all.

I'd start with Berkeley. Burn all the Greenies to save fossil fuels. ( for the rest of us ) Repeat in every left led city.

It's a renewable, possibly inexhaustible source of fuel.

It may take years to end this threat to human life, but we must persevere. It's for The Children.
