Actually Mathew, gun violence is down in the U.S. Because of more concealed carry citizens.

But thanks for noticing the authoritarian thugs you've been supporting want absolute power.

If it wasn’t bad enough that YETI dropped The NRA Foundation as a client, now they’re calling us liars because we informed our members and friends of their actions.

My only question is...firing an AR at close range, how do you burn through a whole mag and have to reload.... having only shot 6 people? Amateur hour!

The above reply to an emotional post is wrong on the facts in the tragic case of the baby in question.

It would have been to hold off the police keeping the baby captive, and searching the parents to prevent them from bringing food into the child, and to escape one socialized medicine country to the airplane courteously supplied by another, one not yet as steeped in death cult leftist morality.

Intellectually, the baby was probably doomed and the parents desperate for any straw.

Emotionally, I have great sympathy for their tragic loss, and fully understand the rage at the authoritarian monster of their government masters.

First responders, EMTs, and others in my life have a code. You don't stop CPR on an infant until higher medical authority takes over. ( for me, that's anyone with a stethoscope )

Two reasons. One emotional, one practical.

Pride, compassion & hubris won't let me get up and walk away, telling a mother her child is dead. No fracking way. Not. My. Job. You keep pumping until you collapse or the ambulance gets there. Period.

Children are incredibly resilient. If I can keep oxygenated blood flowing, there is a chance. Especially in cold water drowning cases. If they can get to an AED and professional care, there's hope.

It's a cold bleak world, reality. The laws of physics are unforgiving and unstoppable. But humans are by nature anti-entropic, and we will cheat if we can.

I love how the leftist politicians and their minions bemoan any sensible or practical solution. If something other than additional meaningless restrictions is proposed, they don't want to hear it.

The 2nd Amendment isn't absolute, just like the first, they say. Like hell.

Trump will speak at NRA convention in Dallas on Friday
By Todd J. Gilman, Washington Bureau Chief - April 29, 2018

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump will speak Friday at the NRA convention in Dallas, a senior White House aide confirmed Sunday night.

This will be Trump's third straight appearance at the NRA's annual gathering. He has projected strong support for gun rights and enjoyed close relations and backing from the NRA and its members.

The president's record of picking federal judges who support a broad interpretation of Second Amendment rights has kept him in the good graces of the powerful gun lobby.

What about the powerful people lobby?

It's terrible that money has to be continually sunk into keeping what's left of our rights.

Over at Dick’s HQ

Dick’s CEO: “What is this?! We did everything the Leftists wanted. We ended gun sales to people under 21. We stopped selling assault weapons. We Tweeted platitudes. Our sales are down and revenue is falling.”

Dick’s BD dept: “Well sir. It seems that Leftists don’t really buy sporting goods. Counting on them to buy-cott enough enough soccer balls and yoga mats to make up for gun sales turned out to be a bad idea.”

CEO: “So what’s the state of the business?”

BD: “Bass Pro and Cabela’s are eating our lunch.”

CEO: “Get legal on the phone, we’re hiring lobbyists.”

BD: “Why?”

CEO: “If we can’t sell guns we’ll make sure nobody else will either.”

CEO & BD: “BWAAH HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!”

(Over at YETI HQ)

YETI BD: “Sir, sales have dropped since we told the NRA to themselves and the Volvo driving soccer mom demographic just isn’t making our pink ramblers fly off the shelves. What do we do.”

YETI CEO: “Quick. Hire some lobbyists. We need to get congress to ban cheaper mugs and coolers as ‘Saturday night specials.’ Well make sure people can only buy our $500 coolers or they won’t be able to buy any coolers at all.”

BD: “That’s brilliant sir.”

CEO & BD: “BWAAH HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!”

Sunny and I took all Chuck Taylor's advanced courses last year and signed up again this year for all 4 of his 2-day classes.

Getting ready for 2 days of his next course this weekend. New Springfield 1911 is sorted. Much better weapon than the Sig 1911.

Pics from last month's *#^%-ing cold class. Day 1 was acceptable, Day 2 was raining and 34 freaking degrees. Targets covered with clear trash bags due to constant light rain. (did I mention it was cold?)

We'd setup malfunction clearing drills and just trying to set up a "stovepipe" in my 1911 proved impossible because I no longer had feeling and function in my fingers. (did I mention it was cold?)

Skill drills - multiple targets, threat assessment, threat to left/right/behind. All timed and from holster. Class was separated in half for the drills so Chuck and Staff could better observe and critique the shooters. This gives you time to re-fill your mags after each training session while the other half of the class is on the line. He keeps it MOVING. Limiting the time to shoot to 2 seconds does really increase the stress and gives you a sense of how your accuracy suffers. (did I mention it was cold?)

I'll post up more pics of this weekend's classes. Hopefully one of the assistants will be there with a camera.

Classes this year are reviews for the both of us. We took all 8 days of his courses last year but we're believers in practice, practice, practice - with the watchful eye of an expert to correct mistakes.

Sunny on the line, second from left. Dark blue. Chuck spotting.

School class picture. Deliberately obscured ID of classmates for posting on a gun board, except yours truly and Chuck. Sunny in dark blue.

Care to elaborate?

My Gen3 P80 G19 no longer sends brass to my face. A G4 ejector fixed it. The ejection is actually much less energetic, but much more consistent.

I finally got to fire the 9mm AR SBR. The recoil impulse isn't much different than the 5.56, it's just smokier but less noisy. It'll make a good training aid for indoor shooting. It's accurate and perfectly reliable so far.

I can't get the wife or kid to go to the range. Oh well. More ammo for me.

It's good to see some gun control types being honest for a change:

Springfield 1911 Loaded model has the features that I like - though I did swap the front Trijicon sight for the Trijicon on my Sig - it has a bright red outline in addition the tritium. Much easier to pick up the front sight. In defensive shooting and practice, that is a very real consideration.

The Springfield feeds all the reloads I can throw at it - 230 gr FMJ, 200 SWC - plated and cast. The Sig chamber tolerances were pretty tight and I'd have had to work on throating it to feed the loads and didn't want to get working on it with a Dremel or hand it to a gunsmith. It is the RCS model - supposedly the Sig Custom Shop had worked it over. It does shoot factory loads really well but the chamber is EXTREMELY sensitive to bullet crimp.

Love the way the Sig handles and points and shoots but it's too sensitive to magazine types and reloads. The Springfield is not.

I was planning to work up more/different loads that would feed well in the Sig. Would LIKE to find some that fed in both... otherwise will just keep shooting MilSpec 230 gr RN/FMJ in the Sig - and shoot EVERYTHING in the Springfield.

Lt. Colonel Oliver North Poised to Become NRA President
"Most exciting news for NRA members since Charlton Heston Became President of Our Association," Wayne LaPierre said.

(DALLAS, TX) – Lt. Colonel Oliver North, USMC (Ret.) will become President of the National Rifle Association of America within a few weeks, a process the NRA Board of Directors initiated this morning.

“This is the most exciting news for our members since Charlton Heston became President of our Association,” said NRA Executive Vice President and CEO Wayne LaPierre. “Oliver North is a legendary warrior for American freedom, a gifted communicator and skilled leader. In these times, I can think of no one better suited to serve as our President.”

North said he was eager to take on this new role as soon as his business affairs were put in order. North is retiring from Fox News, effective immediately. “I am honored to have been selected by the NRA Board to soon serve as this great organization’s President,” North said. “I appreciate the board initiating a process that affords me a few weeks to set my affairs in order, and I am eager to hit the ground running as the new NRA President.”

The NRA Board acted quickly to begin the process for North to become President, after former NRA President Pete Brownell announced this morning that, in order to devote his full time and energy to his family business, he had decided not to seek election to a second term. In his letter to the Board, Brownell wholeheartedly endorsed North for President.

“Discussing this with Wayne LaPierre,” Brownell said in the letter, “he suggested we reach out to a warrior amongst our board members, Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North, to succeed me. Wayne and I feel that in these extraordinary times, a leader with his history as a communicator and resolute defender of the Second Amendment is precisely what the NRA needs. After consulting with NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris Cox, First Vice President Childress and Second Vice President Meadows, I can report there is extraordinary support for Col. North.”

“Pete has served the NRA with great courage and distinction,” LaPierre said. “I am grateful that he joined me in enthusiastically recommending Oliver North to the Board of Directors.”

After the announcement, NRA First Vice President Richard Childress informed the board that he had multiple commitments in the next several weeks and was unable to be immediately available to serve as interim President. The Board then selected Second Vice President Carolyn Meadows to serve as its interim President. Meadows will step aside in a few weeks, when Lieutenant North is prepared to take on his new role as NRA President.

LaPierre congratulated the NRA Board for its action. “The board acted quickly and with great vision,” LaPierre said. “Oliver North is, hands down, the absolute best choice to lead our NRA Board, to fully engage with our members, and to unflinchingly stand and fight for the great freedoms he has defended his entire life.”

“Oliver North is a true hero and warrior for freedom,” LaPierre said, “and NRA members are proud to stand with him.”

+1 On the Springfield Loaded. Crazy good for not that much $$. Completely love mine but it doesn't get much use anymore since the move to the West coast. Heck, none of them do: (

Had a chance to shoot the Springfield RA in 9mm when they first came out (2016?) and wow! I couldn't wait for the .45, 5" model because I'm hoity toity like that
