Under pressure from the left, the Boy Scouts of America, in recent years, have made some significantly poor decisions that fundamentally changed what scouting is all about. I don't get it either. Why do the girls need to join the Boy scouts when there is a Girl scout organization? | ||

To provoke a response. To create chaos. To prove that they can destroy any organization that opposes them. All BSOA had to do was stop taking federal dollars, and they would have been immune from lawsuits challenging their right to free association. They chose - poorly. Now they're reaping the consequences of their prostration to the gods of political correctness. | ||

Unfortunately these poor decisions are hitting home for me pretty hard. I am a father of three young boys. One is a Webelo, one is a Wolf Scout and one is too young to be in scouting but is already talking about becoming a scout just like his brothers. My oldest nephew is an Eagle scout and his little brother is a project away from obtaining his Eagle Scout rank. Recently our pack just voted me as the new Cubmaster for our pack. Scouting, at its core, was designed to help parents develop their young boys into respectable men, leaders in the community, who put God, country, and family above all else. The left has decided that these traditional, masculine, roles in society are no longer of value. Unfortunately programs like the Boy Scouts have the biggest targets on their back. Decisions made at the National Council level, to cave to the leftist agenda, are not reflective of many local Troops around the country. As a pack / troop we have not yet decided to leave the BSA, but, if National Council continues to make these poor decisions I don't think I can consciously still be a cheerleader for the BSA. This is really a sad day for me. | ||

There is a reason boys and girls are separated when on sleep overs. They have sex if not prevented by space or sleepless adults. No amount of propaganda or institutional delusion can change that. Heck, they have sex if there's only one sex in camp. But kids exploring their bodies in a sleeping bag isn't a nightmare of unwanted pregnancy and rape charges, usually, if the adults don't get involved and the sexes are separated by time and space. Midnight canoe trips across the lake happen anyway. Yeah, I was at Y camp too. The Boy Scouts should have made it clear, years ago, that pedophiles would be lost in the woods, dead, period. Alas, that isn't our social norm. It's not the world of my youth. The SCA has to do background checks on coaches in youth activities. And I know it's a Bad Idea to put men in charge of watching a group of adolescent girls on a camping trip. Too young for legal consent, too old not to crush on older men, too horny to control with barbed wire fences around the tents. You have my sympathy. Wish I had an answer for you. Other than keeping an eye out for adults who should be left behind in the woods. Not saying..... | ||
