Where I live there are cycling paths on the side of the road. Not bicycle lanes, actual cycle paths set back from the road, often on the other side of the ditch. They're concrete, and smooth as you please, because no cars or trucks drive on them. They're nice and shaded by trees too. And yet these spandex sporting asshats choose to ride in the street where they are an accident waiting to happen. I don't understand the mentality.

So I'm doubly pissed off when I'm stuck behind one whilst looking at the dedicated strip of concrete just a few feet away where he should be and not being a nuisance on the road.

Don't they have the "Captain Obvious" painted cyclist idiograms/images? Meh. Fcktards.

"I would pass a law that cyclists would have to yield to traffic and give out tickets to the fruitloops who do not..., for revenue."

The Law in California that requires a 3' buffer, also requires that cyclists pull over if there are 5 or more vehicles behind them. Same as the law for other vehicles which says that "vehicles moving slower than the normal flow of traffic, must pull over to let them pass".

Notice that this does not say "Vehicles moving slower than the speed limit", and that is not by accident.

I believe most states have the same law.

A former co-worker got so many tickets for not pulling over in his motor-home, they put him on a restricted license for 90 days to drive the point home. He could only drive a passenger vehicle to and from work.

Well, got the S2 home.

I think I found the problem.

Humpty-dumpty isn't going to be put together again. RIP, S2 #1365.

Some say it doesn't , others do!

With all the home built choppers and other bikes ,I can't find a reason why it can't be pulled straight and welded again!?
It was a hand build bike from the start and nothing wrong with putting your own hand in!

Probably depending on DMV rules and regulations what is involved when repairing and getting a title again.

Sad to see it go but you still can have good memories about the awesome rides it did.

Yeah, it'll get parted. Organ donor for other S2s out there, at least for now. I'm keeping the frame, and any of the goodies I can use to put my S3 Defender back together. But once I get into the autopsy and catalog what's here and usable...there's going to be a big ol' FS post in the classifieds.

Who knows, maybe in 50 years when these are six-figure auction bikes...the frame will be worth rebuilding. For now, though, she's going to rest in peace. Sucks...but at least I'm still here to feel bad about it. Beats the alternative.

JB Weld!
I agree that it could be fixed, but at what cost? Tubes have so little value as complete bikes that fixing the frame will exceed the value of a complete, nice running bike.Very sad as I currently have four S2s, 3 S1s and a smattering of others.

Would it be worthwhile to get a frame from ebay?
I did a quick/lazy search and a few were on there for $350 and down.

I have too many projects already - S3 Defender, 1972 Plymouth Satellite hemi swap/restomod, 1989 Shelby CSX engine and turbo rebuild, 1990 turbo minivan driveshaft replacement and transmission bulletproofing, 1991 Daytona turbo exhaust replacement, home master bathroom addition, rental apartment renovation - I just don't see adding an S2 to the list. Not a good body panel on the bike anymore, front end is trashed/bent, not sure about the trees, header is trashed, air cleaner is cracked...it would be a "new bike built around an engine" situation and I can't justify that right now.

Skin's mostly back, left shoulderblade is still a bit crunchy/scabby and the hip still has a bandage on it for protection from clothing abrasion. Right foot still broken, wearing a boot for another 4 weeks. Right rotator cuff has a minor tear, doing my own PT on that and it's coming along (I remember the intense PT from ten years ago / severe tear on the same rotator). Basically...well, I can't really complain. Certainly did better than the bike...or the deer!

Yeah, you'd think that would be a safety recall issue...I never saw a warning sticker that said "do not drive through deer"...so I figured the bike could take it!

Well THAT SUCKS!!

I think the weld let loose prematurely, maybe you can get an attorney & claim lemon law or Court should step up to the plate & get a frame shipped out ASAP!!

That bike must be putrid with that blood festering!!

As long as you are here to tell the story that is all that matters

That was a big hit! And they say only cats have nine lives. Take the leftover bits and make a conversation starting coffee table and lamps out of them.

Being a collision repair expert, having viewed this vehicle in person, I'm in agreement with Joe. Time to let it go.

It was a beautiful example of a tuber. I did get to do a Daytona trip with Joe while he was on it several years ago.

It could only be fixed as a hobby project for someone needing to toss money into a hole. One of those cost $9000 to build a $6500 bike

RIP to another wonderful tuber.

Those were my thoughts. Maybe one day when tubers are bringing 6 figures at auction it'll be worth the money-pit, but right now...it'll make a nice conversation piece. Or a coffee table.

I have others to focus on.

That's what pressure washers are for.

You wouldn't set your cup on sap & sawdust either.

Cutting a deer in half like that..... Leaves Quite a mess. At least you aren't going to warm the engine up with deer internal contents a few weeks old still in the cooling fins.

Like my buddy's Honda.

I mentioned earlier about the guy I used to know who rode erratically in front of traffic to scare them into giving extra room. I got a call from him this week. Turns out that this spring he was on a ride and got hit. I didn't ask if he was riding erratically at the time. He said he was knocked out for quite a while, and when he woke up, he had a cop looking down at him who said "I thought you were dead".
