Is FANG Stock Trade Dead As Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, Google Lead Tech Weakness?
By Alissa Coram, Investors.com - April 4, 2018

Many on Wall Street are wondering if the once-leading FANG stocks –Facebook (FB), Amazon (AMZN), Netflix (NFLX) and Google parent Alphabet (GOOGL) – are out of favor. Given these top tech stocks' outsized influence on the S&P 500, there could be cause for investor concern.

The FANG stocks, which some have expanded to "FAANG" to include Apple (AAPL), were hit hard this week. Negative headlines continued to swirl around Facebook and Amazon, leading the tech sector lower.

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross Discusses the Big Picture Trade Confrontation With Duplicitous Panda
CTH, April 4, 2018

U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross appears on CNBC earlier today to talk specifically about U.S-China trade resets, confrontation and negotiations. Secretary Ross cuts right through the chaff and countermeasures and gets right to the primary issues.

When questioned about the myriad of downstream issues, Secretary Ross stays focused on the big picture. GREAT INTERVIEW (there are multiple segments where it’s almost impossible not to laugh during Wilburine’s gnat-swatting):

I like that idea . . . presently there is NO risk so we get losers . . . we've surrogated the entire Darwinian elements of trying to enter the USA ILLEGALLY.

Use the border as a training ground . . . we get better snipers through the training . . . the weak and worthless criminals will be culled at distance and our "hand to hand" training will have out Special Forces folks matched with worthy adversaries.

I am in favor of an unusual exemption . . . if you can survive hand-to-hand Combat with a S.E.A.L.. . . . . C'mon in.

The only caveat is that you have to go to California.

How the hell is it that an nation like the United States of America . . . can't keep some slime ball from walking in? My home security system is better than our border security.

How the hell is it that an nation like the United States of America . . . can't keep some slime ball from walking in?

"Catch and release," compliments of our former pResident.

President Trump has tried very hard to harden our southern border, and has been fought in this quest equally as hard by Congress.

Today, P45 went nuclear:

quote:

WHAT: President Donald J. Trump is authorizing the deployment of the National Guard to support the Border Patrol in its mission to protect our country and stop the stream of illegal immigration.

To give our Border Patrol agents the support they deserve, President Trump is authorizing the deployment of National Guard units to the southern border to aid their mission.

America’s Border Patrol agents work incredibly hard to do their jobs of enforcing our Nation’s immigration laws and protecting our national security. These law enforcement personnel are tasked with securing thousands of miles of border, however, and often do not have the manpower or resources necessary to stem the tide of illegal immigration into the United States.

Given the importance of secure borders to our national security, the National Guard, in coordination with governors, will remain in a support role until Congress takes the action necessary to close the loopholes undermining our border security efforts, including ending the practice of Catch and Release.

This is not the first time in recent history that the National Guard has been deployed to the southern border. In 2012, President Barack 0bama authorized the deployment of guardsmen to the border. President George W. Bush also authorized deployment of 6,000 guardsmen to the border as a part of Operation Jump Start, assisting in operations which resulted in the arrest of more than 173,000 illegal aliens, the rescue of 100 persons, and the seizure of more than 300,000 pounds of drugs.

WHY: The President is taking action to protect America’s national security because congressional Democrats have obstructed efforts to secure our border.

Throughout his campaign and Administration, President Trump has called for greater resources and legal authorities to end the national security threat posed by our porous borders. The President has repeatedly outlined a series of steps that are crucial to fixing this problem, including funding to build a wall securing our southern border; greater resources for manpower and security technology; and the closure of legal loopholes that allow illegal immigration to flourish.

More than a thousand people a day and more than 300,000 a year violate our sovereignty by illegally crossing the border. With our current laws and resources, we cannot stop illegal aliens from crossing the border or remove all of the illegal aliens we catch. Of the over 75,000 family units apprehended in FY 2017, only 2,605 were removed.

Stonewalling by Members of Congress, however, has prevented our dedicated Border Patrol agents from getting the resources they so desperately need. Inaction has left glaring loopholes open and crucial legal authorities unauthorized, so the President is taking action and using his existing powers to fill these gaps.

Better yet, build a wall that has obvious funnels / kill zones. Cuts the patrol area drastically, reduces aircraft fuel costs, and...well...makes it easier for our forces to do their jobs.

Our nation loves "reality" shows - do it like one of those movie concepts...what was the one with Jim Carrey, where hidden TV crews followed a real guy all day, 24/7/365, he didn't know...and it was a pay-per-view?

There's the funding for the wall construction.

Turn the security cam feeds / go-pro feeds / patrol drone feeds / body cam feeds into a 24/7 pay channel on every cable system, nationwide. Toss it up on DirecTV and Dish as well, so it can go worldwide.

Word will get out pretty quickly.

Regarding the Tariffs on Chinese goods... I'm having a hard time understanding this, maybe someone can clear it up for me. I'm pretty bad at understanding economy.

China has had tariffs on US goods for a long time. Although I can't remember the list of goods, it seems like my Chinese friends often talked about shipping US goods home because it was much cheaper than buying them in China. Due to tariffs.

Now, when the US imposes tariffs, we're evil and "going to pay" for doing what they've been doing?

Did we have tariffs before? I tried searching google but the ONLY thing I can find is that Trump is evil for starting a trade war that he didn't start.

There have been tariffs on both sides of many relationships with the US - NAFTA, China, Japan, the EU...

Thing is, nobody in the USA has had the balls to stand up to these other countries and say "hey now, wait just a minute...these rules all help YOU, and they all bend me (the US) over without buying me a drink first". We've had tariffs on their goods, but pretty much symbolic and nothing that would keep them from sending crap here.

There has been a huge imbalance between incoming goods (to the USA), versus outgoing goods (from the USA) - other countries make it hard for us to sell our stuff there, but expect (and have gotten) us to make it easy for them to sell their goods here. And, make it easy for them to steal our intellectual property (see: Chinese electronics, or Chinese...well...anything).

Free trade is good...but it has to be BALANCED, and for all of my memory (my dad was a CPA and there was always a WSJ or six on the table in the living room from the time I could read to the time we lost him in '16) this trade balance has been way out of whack, against the USA.

All P45 is doing is standing up for the concept of balance. Like immigration, the USA isn't here to be the dumping ground for every other nation's...whatever. Goods. Welfare population. Gangs. Drugs. We are not the trash bin that other countries get to use, to keep their nations straight...economically or otherwise.

And if you get away from google and the MSM, you'll see that Trump is not only standing up for the USA, but he's also rallying other nations to ALSO stand up to China to help get them in line - mainly because they are the main supplier of just about everything to communist NoKo. Put the hurt on China, you put the hurt on NoKo and help get that junkyard dog back on a leash as well.

And the market at large has been recovering the last couple days because they understand, and see this happening globally.

The MSM...well...

DuckDuckGo is, IMO, a better/safer search engine than gurgle: https://duckduckgo.com/

Here's a consistently-excellent source of in-depth news and analysis: https://theconservativetreehouse.com (be sure to read the comments on any given topic of interest - the good folks at CTH have crowd-sourcing down to a fine art).

quote:

WHITE HOUSE – Following a thorough investigation under section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, the United States Trade Representative (USTR) determined that China has repeatedly engaged in practices to unfairly obtain America's intellectual property. The practices detailed in the USTRs investigation have caused concern around the world. Chinas illicit trade practices ignored for years by Washington have destroyed thousands of American factories and millions of American jobs. On April 3, 2018, the USTR announced approximately $50 billion in proposed tariffs on imports from China as an initial means to obtain the elimination of policies and practices identified in the investigation.

Rather than remedy its misconduct, China has chosen to harm our farmers and manufacturers. In light of Chinas unfair retaliation, I have instructed the USTRto consider whether $100 billion of additional tariffs would be appropriate under section 301 and, if so, to identify the products upon which to impose such tariffs. I have also instructed the Secretary of Agriculture, with the support of other members of my Cabinet, to use his broad authority to implement a plan to protect our farmers and agricultural interests.

Notwithstanding these actions, the United States is still prepared to have discussions in further support of our commitment to achieving free, fair, and reciprocal trade and to protect the technology and intellectual property of American companies and American people. Trade barriers must be taken down to enhance economic growth in America and around the world. I am committed to enabling American companies and workers to compete on a level playing field around the world, and I will never allow unfair trade practices to undermine American interests. EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt is another:

Scott Pruitt's real sin is that he's a total killer for Trump's agenda — and it's why the media is trying to destroy him
Andy Surabian, Business Insider - April 5, 2018

[snip]

CNN's self-righteous breathlessness over a spate of ticky-tacky Pruitt "scandals" is senseless on its face. So what's really going on here?

Pruitt's biggest problem is not his alleged misdeeds. It's his effectiveness and determination at rolling back the job-killing, regulatory bonanza of the 0bama years.

The liberal media is now intentionally training its ire on Pruitt, because unlike some of the president's former Cabinet officials who have recently been forced out, Pruitt is actually effectively prosecuting the president's "America First" agenda.

When it comes to economy-strangling regulations, Pruitt is, as President Donald Trump likes to say, "a total killer." He has no peer in Trump's Cabinet in terms of his ability to cut back red tape. From day one, he began dismantling Barack 0bama's legacy with startling effectiveness and cunning. And for this, radical environmentalists and other left-wingers despise him.

CNN BS

More CNN BS

These folks should be ashamed . . . anyone who is culling news from anywhere but the MSM knows that Trump's popularity is on the rise with the American people. I am also firmly of a mind that the good folks of America understand that China has been playing them like damn fools . . . . the initial part of turning this economic battleship will be difficult and I suspect the subject of some negotiation . . . but, in part for the Wheat Farmer's of my native Kansas, I'm thrilled to see him pursuing parity.

The "laugh of the day" is that Mexico . . . . yeah, that ghetto to the South that's overrun with crime and corruption, is unhappy that Trump stopped the caravan of low-life's headed here to sneak in the the USA and dilute the services and benefits that I willingly sacrifice part of my pay to be allocated to help American's in need.

President Donald J. Trump’s Leadership on the Economy is Making A Difference For All Americans
Economy & Jobs
Issued on: April 5, 2018

The Economy Is Booming: The economy is expanding rapidly under President Donald J. Trump’s leadership.

- American optimism and excitement about the economy is growing under President Trump’s leadership.

- According to Pew Research, Americans rating the economy good to excellent surged to 53 percent, the highest point in 18 years.

- According to Gallup, worry about the economy has dropped 37 percent from its high of 71 percent in 2011 and 2012. One-third of that decline has occurred in the past year.

- The United States economy continues to expand at better-than-expected rates.

- Department of Commerce figures released mid-March show the economy grew at an annual rate of 2.9 percent during the final three months of 2017, which beat their prior estimate of 2.5 percent.

- The monthly Employment Situation Report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released in March shows that nonfarm payroll employment rose by 313,000 in February. The average job numbers in 2018 are the strongest since 1997.

- The economy grew at an annual rate of 3.1 percent over the past three quarters.

- Since January 2017, over 2.5 million jobs have been added to the economy.

- Unemployment has dropped to its lowest levels since before the Great Recession and wages are rising.

- Recent data shows the number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits dropped to more than a 45-year low in mid-March.

- The Department of Labor data from February shows a 4.1 percent unemployment rate, which is a 17-year low.

- In February, average hourly earnings rose to $26.75, continuing record gains made in 2018.

- According to Gallup, the percentage of Americans now worried about unemployment is down 36 percentage points from the high of 59 percent in 2010, including a seven-point decline in the past year.

Americans are seeing the benefits of President Trump’s tax cuts:

- President Trump’s tax cuts are the biggest gross tax cuts in American history, with $5.5 trillion in gross tax cuts over ten years, and $4.5 trillion in reforms.

- Since President Trump provided his historic tax cuts, more than 460 businesses have announced new investments, raises, bonuses, or increased retirement benefits, helping more than 5.4 million workers.

- According to the Ernst & Young Tax Reform Dollar Deployment Survey, 89 percent of companies plan to enhance compensation due to the new tax reform law.

- Americans are beginning to see the impact of tax cuts on every paycheck.

- In February, the IRS updated withholding tables for payroll calculations, meaning 90 percent of Americans are now getting bigger paychecks and more take-home pay.

- The tax reform package lowered individual tax income rates, nearly doubled the standard deduction, and doubled the child tax credit.

BET founder: Trump's economy is bringing black workers back into the labor force
By Berkely Lovelace, Jr., CNBC News - April 6, 2018

The growing U.S. economy and improving business environment is bringing black workers back into the labor force, BET founder Robert Johnson told CNBC on Friday.

Johnson, the nation's first black billionaire, spoke before Friday's jobs report.

In January, the Labor Department reported the unemployment rate among black workers was at its lowest since at least the early 1970s, when the government began tracking the data.

"When you look at that [January report], you have to say something is going right," said Johnson, a Democrat and founder and chairman of The RLJ Cos.

"You have to take encouragement from what's happening in the labor force and the job market," Johnson told "Squawk Box." "When you look at African-American unemployment, ... you've never had African-American unemployment this low and the spread between African-Americans and whites narrowing."

Additionally, the business environment in the U.S. is also good, Johnson said. "I believe if you take into account the Trump tax cut, you take into account the drop in unemployment, ... and you take into account that interest rates are fairly stable" the economy is going to grow, he said.

"I believe the economy is on a strong growth path," he added.

Johnson has said he has known Trump for years. Johnson met with the then president-elect in 2016 and said he believes the president wants to work with African-Americans and all Americans to boost the economy.

DOJ Releases List of 24,500 Sealed Indictments

While some media outlets have been downplaying the situation, the fact remains that this is the largest list of sealed indictments in decades. For comparison, the average number of sealed indictments made by the DOJ is 1,000 a year.

DOJ Releases List of 24,500 Sealed Indictments

Bandm, the core information regarding the sealed indictments included in your link was sourced from PACER (Public Access to Court Electronic Records), not the Department of Justice:

I've been following this for months. I believe these indictments do relate to draining the swamp, and I hope - as these indictments are unsealed - that we see some Major Players perp walked.

However, the information in the article is not, unfortunately, sourced from a "release" by Department of Justice, in spite of what the headline suggests.

Best,

That article was... Well, let's just call it less than informative, and open to interpretation as you may please.
