Throttle. Counter steer. No fear of the lay down position. No panic. Dirt bike instincts that saved the bike before it could get to the scene of the wreck! I have led several fast chrome couch riders through these Smokey Mountain passes while on my Uly. I base the capacity of its speed on the sound of the boards dragging. |

Put an April Buells sticker over the incision once the surgery's over! That'll guarantee it'll heal quickly. If you need some, just let me know. |

Cool, I could use a break from the rain! Yesterday we still had a 1/2" of sleet in the yard. Sunny, 65 degrees and muggy at 2:00 in the afternoon. 3:00 and huge storm hit with heavy winds and rain for a half hour. That was ok as I was enjoying an excellent beer with friends watching the stop sign swaying all over. By 4:00 the sun came back out and the temps were in the 40's! I walked into the bar with a long sleeve shirt and sweating, walked out needing a coat! Strange day, even for St. Louis! |

I'm officially out, friends. Having this surgery yesterday will keep me out of riding for at least a month, out of work until the 16th, and it's gonna be a $truggle catching up from that point on. Waiting to hear back from Graham, probably going to transfer the room 3 reso to him, so he and Vern can make it. You guys all have a great time, keep the rubber side down, take LOTS of pics, maybe Graham can bring me some Jim's brisket on the return trip! |

Hey y'all! I just spoke to Brad, glad to hear he's home and doing ok, bummed he can't make it though. I'm taking over the TWO reservation as Brad suggested, for Friday and Saturday night. I'm going to leave DC on Thursday morning, stay at Brad's Thursday night, hopefully explore some of the Dragon on Friday and be in Suches on Friday night. Looking forward to seeing you crazy folks!! |

I had thought of buying it, but it already lives in my garage anyway and I can ride it whenever I want... so... maybe. Plus, I have this FREE KLR 650 that I still haven't even touched... I need to figure out why it doesn't run. It lives behind a wall of water bottles. When we get below 5400 bottles on hand, you can actually see it. When the rear fender sticks out, it's time to go back to Costco for more water. |

I'd forgotten about the KLR! My next bike (if that ever happens) will be a D/S of some sort. I've not ridden in the dirt since I was a kid (unless you count that time Barker took us on those N GA fire roads)... |

Brad, sorry you can't make it. Heal up. Due to poor planning and a huge amount of work at the office this year I have to work Sat. morning but I will be heading out the moment work is done. If I can join for a ride, great, if not I will see you all later in the day. Lee is hoping to come up but it will depend on the grace of his friend letting him borrow the bike for the weekend. He should have his own bike soon and/or if I get off my lazy ass and get the buell or hawk running then I will have a bike Lee or my other son can use. |

Lee could ride my Z1000... fair warning she has a squishy front end. The back tire is getting a little sparse down the middle but plenty of meat left on the sides. Let me know if he wants it. I'm riding up on Thursday, so he could pick it up some time earlier in the week, maybe ride it a little beforehand to get used to it. |

going to pull a "bullish" and post about my ride today. cliff notes are a nice ride up alt-75 out of Helen and the a GREAT run down Richer Russel. I am not much of a social media person but I posted this up on IG today. e4937 Had a nice but cold ride today. It was 45 degrees and overcast when I started out. Heated grips would have been on point. about halfway to Helen it started spitting rain and I almost turned around. Decided to stick it out. Had lunch in Helen to warm up. It was as empty as i have ever seen it. Advantage to it being cold was, no cars out. Had a clean run up alt 75, even got some air this time. (There is a bit of banked 2 lane where if you cut it straight and give it the beans you will get some air) Went down Richard Russell and again, a clean run. RR was damp and she was dancing around a bit(a lot) but it was the best run I've had in a while. Didn't stop to take any pictures as I didn't want to lose the heat in the tires. All in all a great day. |

Bike Choices: BMW K75S BMW K1300S Buell XB12X Suzuki DR650e The K75S is the only one with a current license since I moved to NC last year. But they are all in running condition. All it would take is a visit to the tag office. Bill G |

All would be a good choice for the North Georgia Mountains. We as a group typically don't rode the forest service roads.Maybe the DR would be good for a visit at another time when you could spend more time enjoying them. |
