Anyone in the NYC area willing to check a bike out for me? It has a salvage title but has been repaired back to what looks like factory specs and parts. Because it is salvage, there is a lot I want to know before buying it and I'll contact the dealer that has it before hand. But driving my little trailer down and through the mess that is NYC area is something I want to try and avoid, especially if I get there and the bike is just badly repaired. Says it is in Brooklyn and the hours of operation are 10 to 7 Monday through Saturday. Also anyone get a salvage back on the road in NY state? I assume that I need to know why it was salvaged, what repairs have been completed to fix it (with documents?), and leave it at the DMV inspection place for them to inspect it. Is there anything else I need to know? Need to check and make sure my insurance will allow a repaired title bike to be insured, wouldn't carry anything but basic liability anyway, so shouldn't be an issue. |

I'd try getting in touch with Paul Podlaski, he is not far from Brooklyn and has dealt with many salvage Buells. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/boar d-profile.cgi?action=view_profile&profile=paulpud- users He frequents the various Buell facebook groups too, might be more responsive on there. |

Don't sweat the city . . . if you decide to retrieve it . . . let me know and I'll either go with you to help you load and get back out of Gotham . . . or we'll jump in my F-250 with a ramp . . . run collect it and come back and transfer it to your trailer at the undisclosed location. |

Court, thanks, I may take you up on that offer. K12pilot, I sent you a response but I'll post it here as well. They are at 1643 UTICA AVE BROOKLYN, NEW YORK Called Team Straus Motorcycles, and it is a Kawasaki Z125 that they still want too much money to buy. These are commonly $2950 plus tax and dmv for a new 2018. I don't really want to spend the $33xx out the door for something I'm going to beat up on the track and have been searching for a deal on a grom or z125 for a while. Not sure if this is really a deal yet. |

It does not sound like a deal to me.. A salvage title will always be a salvage title in NY (( I been there.. & still here. but I will never sell it anyway )) |

Needs to be under $2000 to make sense because of the salvage status. |

After reading this again, it may not be worth buying at more than $1500 unless they have already gained the new title. https://www.dmv.org/ny-new-york/salvaged-vehicles. php Maybe I should just buy a new one at the dealer 15 minutes from home. |

Progressive totaled my BMW HP2 after an accident in '09. I bought it back from them for pennies on the dollar after I made 4-5k on the payout )) Then I fixed it (ridable, reliable condition) myself for less than $500 )) been riding it since then. The original title had to be handed over to them when I picked up the check, they in turned gave me a salvage certificate. I never cared about the salvage cert because I owned it before it was totaled, I just had to go to the DMV every year in person to get it registered (they had to call Albany to open the VIN file while I was there) idfk.. Last fall I finally had it inspected to get a title as I am planning to bring it to New Zealand & wanted to go through the bike top to bottom. It took almost 3 months for an appt, I brought the receipt for the parts I changes & my iPad with all the pix I had before & after. 15 minute inspection, 2 week wait & I have a "rebuilt salvage" title. Happy Happy )) I would think it was much easier since I owned it before the accident, but idk for sure. But I do know it was worth my time for this bike, I will probably die with OR on it. |

Thanks, any flexibility in that price? I have a local one for that much but they won't budge on the price, much higher miles at around 4000. |

I can check tomorrow but not expecting much movement. 249 miles; she literally owned it for 6 weeks and traded it on a Burgman 650. Wanted more power for street use, and wanted to to back to a twist-n-go, no shifting. Fully serviced, fresh fluids, all adjustments checked - basically the break-in service was done early by my shop. Bone-stock, 50 year old female owner, not a young beat-it-to-death punk beginner. You're out of state for us so I'm not required to collect any of your state taxes or title/tag fees...you square those up when you get home and put it on the road (unless you finance, then the bank requires I collect those). Only thing I add if you want is $20 for a 60 day temp tag; proof of insurance on that VIN is required. Or you can trailer it home without; your call. Comes down to whether you want one with miles, or one that's basically brand new except for the fact it's been titled... |

You'll love the Z125, it's a fun little bike. I bought one last year and couldn't be more happy with the purchase. |
