Droolin... I think that's a Yammie GTS1000 behind the Buell- I've always wanted one of those, just for the quirkiness. Sure hope I can make Barber Vintage Fest in the fall. | ||

I worked as one of Yamaha's demo leaders at Americade the years the GTS1000 was sold, and we got to use those bikes to lead the group, and take them out to play after hours. GREAT fun. When my 1985 K100 was stolen in 1995 I was going to replace it with a GTS1000, but they'd stop making them by then and there weren't any "leftovers" to be had.  | ||

Ebutch, I think that was going to be the future but the water cooled engine just never caught on. To be honest I wasn't a big fan either. I watched a Harley mechanic friend of mine do a valve adjustment on one. What a PITA! I never rode one so I don't know how that engine felt, just didn't like the idea of maintaining it! | ||

I rode a VRSCR when I was a parts guy at a dealership. Supposedly the "race" version of the V-Rod. To put it in context, I was riding my 1125R almost daily. The V-Rod seemed on the same level as the Sporty XR1200, which was lacking 30 or 40 HP to my 1125. Thought about getting a V-Rod for sport-touring but that's my 1125's future now, after she gets the 1190 upgrade. Z | ||

I guess I just don't get "modern" motorcycles. Adding as many un-associated and awkward angles as possible seems to make them look "hi-tech"? What ever happened to fluid, stream-lined stream-lines? I thought sport motorcycles were supposed to look fast? | ||

Hey Bart, congrats on the KTM. Rode a 990 ADV after the demise of my Buell and had blast. Even did a 1220 mile/20 hour run once. Pretty easy as you can stand on the pegs and ride 60 mph instead of pulling over to stretch your legs. Wish I hadn't gotten old and wish they hadn't screwed up the exhaust routing on the subsequent models. You're living in the right part of the country to enjoy the heck out it. Get a Wings muffler too. Makes me jealous! | ||
