Greetings from Daytona Beach. I got here yesterday. Brought X1 in trailer from Chicago. I met some folks from NY at Dimitri's Restaurant, with two XB9R. Also a twin X1 from PA at Ocean Deck Restaurant.    | ||

Monday will be gloomy and some rain but should clear by afternoon/evening. Slightly colder (for us FL people) but should be a decent week with slightly warmer temps towards the end of week and weekend. I was over this past Saturday. Might be too cold for me until later this week but I will definitely see everyone on Friday! | ||

Forecast is looking pretty good for the weekend. It WILL be cold at night. Cold means below 40. Frost likely. But bring an umbrella for the scorching midday sun, and plenty of sunscreen. It quit raining here and cleared up just after noon. | ||

My net is small, aimed directly, and full of holes. I like it that way! Mark and I made that trek to Daytona. We passed through these here Smoky Mountains South on I40 , we left in the late afternoon from my place through Asheville , riding by snow banks and ice formations in the pass. That was the beginning. It got cold from there. When we stopped for a room in South Ga. I was numb. The palms of my hands were red, nearly burned from my heated grips and heated gloves, but my fingers were frozen. Too ••••••• cold! Then I rode down myself one year where it was 32F when I left here and the high temp never reached 40F all day. Then camping in the infield it was like 38F and so windy Rat and I had to park our bikes so that the wind would stop collapsing out tents. I got out once to hear Joe asking what I was doing. I put on my heated gear to stand by my bike to try to warm up. A little later we were both standing beside our now running bikes. After a couple nights of this I got so sick. Joe and Laird were good enough to escort me as far North as they could to make sure I would make it. Thanks guys I will never forget that. Too ••••••• cold! | ||

It was really cold last night... specially going to the Cole Slaw Wrestling at the Cabbage Patch. I met Red over there and his 09 Uly. He also has an S1, 1125R somewhere in NJ. We had a Blast! (lol) During the day, I met Tom and his wife from FL at Beach St. He has an S1(?) and a yellow M2 with a smiley face. Also a fellow selling patches at Carl's Speed Shop (?) told me he had an RS1200... He said to put 39 mm O-ring in the bottom shock instead of the original 40 mm. Across the street, there is an outfit selling a 2002 M2 black with a Titanium muffler. They seem not to know it. Price $2,900 Then in Main St. I met Jason from GA with a 06 Uly Also, below the beefed up engine that started an idea...    | ||

correction: RS1200 previous owner works 2 doors north of Carl's Shops, at Brigit's Custom Work. I will park my black X1 somewhere in Main st and hit Boot Hit Saloon or Froggys. I found BUELL oval patches (light blue and white) at the market in Beach st. | ||

Ah yes, that's the black M2 Cyclone I saw when I was wandering around on Tuesday. So it's still there? Looking forward to seeing everyone this evening, though I suspect the only person I'll recognize will be Crusty. Be nice to see some new faces. I'm on a burgundy (BMW calls it "Canyon Red") BMW K1200LT with a day-glo yellow Nolan helmet and gray Darien jacket. | ||
