Got a phone call this afternoon. Owe money. Offered to pay by credit card, but got disconnected. My fault.
So I called back. Phone system from heck. Dial 0 for operator, 9 for directory. Dialing 0 just loops you back to above recording. Hmm. Tried 9. "Enter first 3 letters of last name". Random entry- they hang up.
Aha! Challenge. I tried lots of input, holding zero, massive random number entry, etc. Either invalid entry or hang up. At this point I'm ready to go to office and call this system to show how $/^&^^ it is. But! I have plan. Back to directory.
I try semi random input. No joy. How about consonant-vowel-consonant? Aha! Connection, not in office recording, hang up. Try again. Again. Again. Got human being!!!!!!!!! Successful at paying bill, with perplexed very nice lady. Turns out she's in an office on the other side of the state, and her phone was in lunch mode so she should not have received a call, at all. Explained my problem with phone system, left her laughing. She told me she'll pass on my issues and ask how the heck I hacked a major corporation's phone system with a Galaxy 3 and the phone keypad.
Unfortunately I do not. The internet is usually full of useful information - if not of questionable accuracy - but not this time. Jalopnik seems to believe the pic was taken in Milan in 1960, but I don't know how much faith I'd put in that.
I stumbled upon a pretty cool photoshop battle that put Alfred on the cart with the cars of Mad Max Fury Road but that's pure entertainment...
George The Elder is smiling today. No one will forget his vomiting in the lap of the Prime Minister of Japan. But there's at least no footage of him in a kimono trying kabuki dancing.
There's a lot of coverage on this trip. I suggest looking at a spread of it from multiple sources. My original link didn't work and while critical, wasn't the Very Biased one now posted. Look back in time at least to his arrival in India. A lot of interesting politics is going on. When the Canadian Premier arrived he was greeted by a fairly low level official from agriculture. A snub. It's been downhill since, but he finally got his hug from India's PM, no doubt begged as an attempt to salvage some decorum.
