I found this one striking.Goofy headlight too.Simple, versatile, and snappy...If I were in the market i'd be lusting after this thinking of a ride down sandwich notch road in NH..So much motorcycle maintainance ahead of me i'm lost |

I think my favorite LOOKING bike of all the new models is the Kawasaki Z900RS (what can I say... in some things I AM conservative) and I am very disappointed they are not bringing in the Cafe Racer variant of that bike. Maybe next year? At the IMS Show in NYC a Kawasaki rep told me that the parts needed to do the conversion will be available in the States; they just won't be selling the bike set up that way (you'll have to do it yourself). |

Forgive the yellowish iphone photo...
Looks a little different than when we opened the crate! We got snow last night, still sorta-sick, still real cold out...but I'll get a ride report as soon as I (and the road conditions) are up to it. We do have a dedicated demo unit coming, so I may be 'asked' by management to wait till it arrives before I start logging miles... |

I find this quite appealing. The Euro version is a little nicer. Pity, that. |

That Yamaha looks like it wants to transform into some sort of mechanical praying mantis. |

For sure. It's so ugly I love it. Not sure how that works |

Yeah, I definitely prefer the XSR versions of the MT bikes from Yamaha. |

Absolutely. With some minor mods they're quite lovely. Quite a throwback look for a very capable bike. |

I like that Yamaha a lot. Replace the handlebars with some clip-ons and you have a winner, IMO. |

Notice the tail light sticking way out back ala EBR! |

Ala DOT, actually. There are rules governing tire coverage, lighting distance from actual rearmost point, etc. |

Of all of the bikes I've owned, I liked the looks of my 1982 Yamaha XJ650RJ SECA the best. They only brought it to the States in that one year, and only in metallic grey. I saw the same bike in a dealership in Montreal in a deep, metallic ruby red. I would've DEFINITELY preferred it in that color. |

Ala DOT, actually. There are rules governing tire coverage, lighting distance from actual rearmost point, etc. Actually, Erik said that it was designed to be aerodynamic and not to change it, as per the owner of this bike:

I've had my RS with plates and signals up to 175mph at the Mile sprints. Taking them off has netted 4.7 more mph. Z <edit> Oh yeah, mirrors too(Firebolt longstems) (Message edited by zac4mac on February 02, 2018) |

Definitely D.O.T. Theres a lot of aerodynamic problems with the 200lb lump on the seat, not so much the taillight . |

I'd suspect Erik's comment was more along the lines of "Don't remove it <it's> we made it as aerodynamic as we could"... |

Ya, I don't think the flying tail light/signals/plate would be there if it could be helped. This is becoming more prevalent as well. Reminds me of the old tuber set up.

I was told that the main reason for the license plate being located over the rear tire, is so the police license plate readers can see the plate. |

I'd suspect Erik's comment was more along the lines of "Don't remove it <it's> we made it as aerodynamic as we could".. The owner told Erik he was going to remove it and Erik asked him not to, but I think you're correct, it was because they took so long to get it as aerodynamic as possible. It was something like losing your child! I understand where he's coming from. I've designed parts to fix a machines operation and it works great but 5 years later they put in a new machine and you watch your hard work being thrown in a dumpster!! |

My MV has a flying tail and I hate it! What's worse is no one makes a tail tidy, in the traditional sense, so I'm stuck with it until I can come up with something better. Also, in Europe license (number) plates are HUGE and would look even more out of place, if placed up high. from wiki: Format The bulk of European countries issues license plates that are 520 by 110 mm (20.5 by 4.3 inches) or 520 by 120 mm (20.5 by 4.7 inches). This is one of the three basic standard sizes worldwide (the other two being 305 by 152 mm (12.0 by 6.0 inches) or 305 by 160 mm (12.0 by 6.3 inches) and 372 by 135 mm (14.6 by 5.3 inches) Some European countries uses license plates in other formats: 330 by 140 mm (13.0 by 5.5 inches) - in Andorra. 440 by 120 mm (17.3 by 4.7 inches) - in Finland. 260 by 110 mm (10.2 by 4.3 inches) - in Monaco. 390 by 120 mm (15.4 by 4.7 inches) - in San Marino. 300 by 80 mm (11.8 by 3.1 inches) - in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. |

Goldwings are HERE! We got 7 of 'em yesterday. One's sold, two are demos, and I can't wait to get some miles. Stood one up off the sidestand in the shop just now and just about tossed it over onto the right handlebar - they're THAT light! |
