Just wanted to thank everyone for the great days of Buelling/EBRing and sharing all the good times a guy by the name of Erik Buell, who created some beautiful motorcycles for us to ride. Speaking as one of the former elves, the Homecoming event makes all that the elves did making motorcycles we all enjoy very rewarding. Keep riding and sharing the passion for Erik's innovations. See you next year or maybe sooner...... |

Currently adding 97 pics from the track from today. My interests are varied so, if you see something you don't like, have a nice day - and move on... The majority is definitely Buell/EBR however. The ride back made the weather in the Netherlands look great! Misty with darker and darker gray skies the closer I got to Milwaukee. Thankfully the mist was nowhere enough to even get through my Adventure jacket. But once I got to the Mukwonago exit, the skies turned blue and the sun came out. I stopped at Gus's for their weekly Cruise Night and man, what a turnout! I posted those pics to my Facebook page if you're so inclined as I didn't want to muddy up the Homecoming pics. Hard to believe that the weather can be that much different between 2 places that are not really that far from each other. I'm hating the beginning of my return to NC on Monday, but if there's any saving grace - the sooner I get back there, the sooner until next years Homecoming... |

That was a great time it was fun to meet new friends, and get reacquainted with all of you. Mike was a great spokesmen for the brand, and kindly led us to the Quonset hut, then some great test routes for Buell development, and also to the prospected new, (well back in 2009), HD/Buell factory and test track site. The lot is still for sale today. My personal favorite moment was Thursday night after dinner at Mike K's garage Todd, (The owner of all those Race Of Champions S1s.), showed Paul, (the rider Mike was prepping a bike for this weekend for Sunday's race), his collection. Paul took one look at the bikes in the trailer, and said he recalled having a stack of tires worn out on one side from that race that Henry Duga had given him. he offered them to Todd on the spot to reunite the tires with the bikes in order to preserve the history. On the way home I stopped by the HD museum. I was impressed by the displays, but I was surprised there was not one photo or mention of the 2009 AMA 1125RR Danny Eslick win anywhere. I saw a few Buells on display, but The 1125 motor was an MIA in the "ENGINE ROOM" exhibit. and Buells were not listed under the section for the Evolution. I have mixed feelings for HD. On one hand, they provided the capital to make some incredible Buell bikes. On the other, they lacked the vision and confidence to see it through. When things got tough they cut loose and returned to their safe space. Next year will be ten years since the rug was pulled out from under Buell. I'm thinking we ought to show up there en masse, if only to remind them of the loyal fans to the brand, worthy of more than just a sidebar. |

Maybe a couple of quotes from the HD conf. calls to the investors on some poster board. And what would a gathering be of what could have been without press coverage? Doris and I enjoyed all the fun at our house. My trip on the "pretty bike" out to East Troy was met with protest from my back later that day, and today! Some things to consider if I want to keep riding. Homecoming this year was a blast |

Looks like a great turnout! I was hoping I could pull it off and be there but they had my concrete forms all ready over a week ago but didn't pour concrete till Thursday of this week! I've been running sprinklers on it during the cure and wasn't able to leave the house. Next year all this house stuff should be history and I'll make it back to Homecoming! |

Big thank you to Doris and Steve for the great time at their garage-breakfast. I missed the old factory meet, but it was nice to see other Buellers on Saturday morning. Notes to remember: The carbon fiber EBR is so much more incredible/outstanding in person, than in pictures. The S2 with a corbin seat makes you feel like a pilot digged in. The 2010 Uly has a front O2 sensor. The 1125 CR is really compact and yes good-looking. The two red racing S1's looked mean and nimble, but that silver w/carbon in the trailer, was sweet... What a gem. An idea on another support point for the S3T bags. And so on... BTW, also thanks for the diagnosis of my X1 oil spouting; vent hose, right side, too short. If you guys pass by Chicago, let me know. |
