Didn't you know!?! All political facts are on hiatus for the next few years. The only political discussions allowed MUST include name-calling, bigotry, hate, and quotes from Memes. ONLY!

For those of us who'd worked with "vintage" Brit machinery:

I know it's only a matter of time . . . but I spend a LOT of time driving at night with vintage Lucas electronics and I can't get the damn thing to fail. I did just have a turn signal indicator . . the one driven by the old vacuum time delay switch . . . fail and make it's way onto the project list. I've determined it's not the bulb . . . so the quest beings. |

All that Lucas talk has me wishing I still had this car. A little search of the web and you can find a few with a LS stuffed under the hood.... and that makes me want one even more....

And here I thought that the joy of owning a British vehicle was that you'd work on it all week long, so that on Sunday, you could drive it over to a friend's house to work on it. That about describes British bike ownership. 1 BSA, 2 Triumphs, 3 Matchless' and 2 Nortons. |

People jam small blocks in every damn thing these days. Just google it and it comes right up. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0vz9VdbxQc |

I've owned 5 BSAs only trouble electronically is Zeiner diold going bad 15 cents to replace digging them out & soldering in. & elec. pressure couplings not making good contact remedied by soldering together. 300,000 miles of riding.
Zener diode capacitor would burnout and need replacing. (Message edited by ebutch on January 23, 2018) |

Some people think that BSA stands for Birmingham Small Arms, but they're wrong. It really stands for Bastard Stopped Again. I learned that through experience. |

Best friend in high school's father ran a garage specializing in British cars. TR-3s, 4,6, GT6, 7s, etc. All owned by the family over the years. 3 of them, a TR3, TR4, and a Fiberfab Banshee custom fit to a TR4 racing chassis, killed their owners after they sold them. Two hit bridges on rainy nights. Just crumbled piles. One got stuffed into the bumper of a Peterbuilt on.... yeah, a dark and stormy night. I was on the tow truck crew for 2 of those. I then decided not to buy a car from that family. It's not that they were in bad shape. I'd ridden in all three and they were meticulously maintained and beautifully restored or built. It's just that some breeds kill their owners. |
